Is it better to get multiple LED's or single LED's. Are there any ones that are good quality...cause ive heard they can break very easily!?

Why do the LED sidelights blow? cause LED's dont normally blow? so what causes it? is it cause the resistor in them isnt correct as they want to make them as bright as possible?
