what a sad today. ma dog is just back from the vet and we have been told he is basically coming to the end of his life. he has a tumor pressing on his stomach the size of a cricket ball. they can`t do anything about it because there not sure he will pull threw. at the moment he`s has come back with some pill`s(painkillers etc) but they think he has about 7weeks and that will be him. he is 12 year old now so he is 2 year older than the expected life. hope the vets wrong and he still keeps going but highly unlikely. :(

they said there is no pain just now but he has a few other problems, thats why he got the pain killers. but there will be a point arround about 7weeks mark when he will feel it. and thats when were gonna have to give him up.

my old husky got to 15, did really well, then her back legs gave up, so we had her put down, less cruel than her struggling to walk

Sorry to hear that mate, its sad news to hear.
Last year my dog had a stroke and she was falling everywhere, couldnt stand up or anything, we took her to the vets and they said she will only have 2 months left, and gave us some tablets which cost us £50 a month.
We couldnt afford them and gave her asprin, and shes back to normal now! a year later :p *touches wood*

i lost my 1st dog (1st being i got her before my other) in december 2007, i was heatbroken, cried for the whole day, still gets me, (welling up now :( :( )
She was having epileptic fits and had no control over her business let say.
It was her time and she got put down, i didnt want to have it done but i new it was best for her.
I got the vet to bag up the hair he shaved off her foot to inject the needle and i keep it close to heart.
she went very peacfully and i hugged her as her last breath went and gave her one last kiss.
we also got her cremated by a proffesional family run company who wer VERY VERY kind and i woul dhighly recomend them to yourself.
Think whats best for the dog, its a hard choice, but you will thank yourself for it in the end.
Crying now :(
i no its hard mate, i really feel for you
BTW - She was 12 also and a staff, she live a good life and went well above her expected age :)
Like said above, remember the memories and the good times, i no i had plenty and have all the pics to remember it :)

well i made sure i was the last thing she saw, didnt want her jst seeing a blank room, not at all.
It really hurt me, it still does, she was the most perfect dog imo, got so many pics of her, from puppy to granny lol
Like i said she went peacefully though, the vet told me they can take a sudden breath and seem distressed etc etc but she went very quietly and jst slowly faded off.
I will admit its not nice at all, you jst want them to open there eyes again, then you think to yourself "oh god have i done the right thing" but a little while after you realise it was for the best and that he/she is now happy and you will see each other again soon :)

iv been in the same boat as you mate, its the worst feeling in the world like somthing twisting up your insides just making you feel sick.:( :( :(
i know that no1 can compare their experiences.
last year i lost my best friend, great grandma then my grandad,:(:( its so hard to come to terms with but with time you will open up about it, then when it gets to much you will lock up all your feelings again. it dosent feel like it now but time is the best healer.
sorry to hear your bad news mate.

i would suggest gettin your dogs tag made into a pendant sort of thing. i have a chain, kinda like dog tags, that has my dogs name tag on it and my mums favourite pendant she used to always wear, on the 2nd chain bit. keeps things close to you mate, good comfort

Sorry to hear that. I a dog when I was little who stopped eating and after a lot of visits to vets had to be put down. I still remember it now and it was 15 year ago when I was 7. I had been picked up by my mums mate who had picked her son up and they took me home my mum was crying and said our dog had been put down. I started crying hugging my mum and asked if we could have another. He was only 6 so quite young.
Another dog we had we got when she was 7 and she wasn't that giddy then but near end started getting lost and losing plot but not in pain or anything. Then got to stage where she was just sleeping all time and struggled to get up and soon died which was partly a relief cos we knew she would die soon. She was 15.
Thought our other dog mite not have long left last week he seemed really confused and no energy and not eating much. He is 15 so didn't think he would get better took him vets they said he needed blood test but couldn't do it cos he was snapping at them. Since then he has got better and back to normal self for now.
Also got an adorable 1 year old dog who was a present to me from my mum so he is my own dog and spoilt.

im sorry to hear that mate, loosing pets is an awful thing, i had to have my collie put down over a year ago now because his epilepsy was getting to much for him, he was only about 6 i think. For the first time the other week since we had him put down i called his name for breakfast, it was so wierd went on a major downer for the whole day.
