leeroybrown

I hope your joking lol. As Leeroy said :y: Although my dad's driven afew ST170's and says for what they are, they're slow. Which mus have dissapointed him as he's a Ford man through and through.

leeroybrown
13th January 2009, 22:04
Both pretty much the same although the st I think is more tuneable

Viper
13th January 2009, 22:06
so whats the point of the RS then?! lol

i take it ur on about the current RS, not the new shape one, yeah?

bullit
13th January 2009, 22:09
because the st didnt exist when the rs came out ;)

CHIP
13th January 2009, 22:10
Yea, he's on about the current RS. Which was out before the ST. That's the point of it lol. Hopefully the new one is going to look better than the ST and be abit more exclusive. Anyone got any info regarding that sort of stuff?

New RS looks like a beefed up version of the ST. Saw a couple on Sunday. Looks really nice, apart from in the slightly dodgy green colour they now come in.

original st is 2.0 4 cyl na with 170bhp.

Jazz
14th January 2009, 00:25
You can get a dealer approved Mountune performance package for the Focus ST, bumps power up to 256bhp, costs £1120.

Edit- WOLF tuning does a package for the ST, 300bhp and 295 ft lb torque.

leeroybrown
14th January 2009, 07:49
And so do red code

Jamie
14th January 2009, 09:48
Wolf is now known as Code red iirc

The new RS is a tuned ST lump with LSD; 300bhp
Old 2.0 Turbo as said a Mondy lol 212bhp although most were around 230+ as std
ST = Volvo lump, 2.5 5cyl Turbo 225bhp some were around 230+ as std

The Std ST vs Std old RS St would nab it unless it was a lemon lol, id expect a std ST to get spit roasted by the 09plater lol

ST DS race plus Vs Montune gear times are here, DSCI is what 99% of stoc run and its quicker then Race+ they are around 270Bhp Ds race plus is a std car mapped Montune is Mapped K+N filter & bigger intercooler.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90/Funkmeister/MountuneVsDSRacev2.jpg
Btw

just because im a slag

Richard Meaden from Evo mag said about there long term tuned ST;

In third gear the ST gets from 30-50mph in just 2.1sec, and from 50-70mph in 2.4sec. In fourth gear it dispatches 50-70mph in 3.0secs dead and 80-100mph in 4.6sec. This is especially impressive when you consider a Mitsubishi Evo X takes 3.3 and 5.2sec for the same increments, while an Impreza STI takes a tardy 5.0 and 5.4sec
respectively. Quite simply a Subarishi driver wouldn't see the ST for dust in a battle of in-gear roll-on grunt.

Taken off ST-OC x

Lee, as i wont be attending FCS i think Trax will be where you can give her a go mate :)

Mine should hopefully be quicker then a DS car though as i have some more components lol

Defo need to upgrade my intercooler and buy a down pipe asapppp,

One thing i kinda dont like about the car is the pops, if im running a little late at 7 in the morning and just tap the
acclerator as you do BANG really loud people must hate me by now lolz.

Those figures for the STI look way out.

Performance Car tested the Subaru in November last year and in STANDARD form it posted (30-50) in 2.9 seconds (3rd gear) and 1.9 seconds (2nd gear).

Like with any figures, you can make them work to your advantage if you try hard enough. Not saying your car is slow by any means but I'd go with the Subaru anyday.

How do the 0-60 times compare Jamie ?

Jamie
14th January 2009, 21:09
Well i havent timed it but my god does this thing move since the mods.

It was fairly quick as std but now im yet to meet a car quicker. (not saying its untouchable) its around 290bhp hoping for 300bhp if i hit rollers.

And just for the record ive played with scoobs and i was best with just DS at the time. &&&& my mum owns one so i know how quick they can be..

How effective is it at getting the power down? Is it a mission off the line?

On any road other then a dry one yeh lol its a mission, nah tbf its bad but it can be done if your gentle :P

But when you do get that road omg, anyway i dont race it around however when i give it some in gear its so quick,

I really love this car, usually after a yr i get shot but i actually want to keep it?

a bit off topic but id like to point out that the 09 rs looks stunning if anyone has seen one, if you aint look down:

Good stuff, I imagined it would be a bit of a beast off the mark with that mammoth power.. But once you're rolling yeah must be mad.

Clutch must take a beating :P (or is it uprated?)

Focus ST's are quick those results look really good but jaime your comparing a stnd evo and scooby against a modified focus st put the same sort of gains on a Evo or Scoob and itll just leave the ST for dead.

Hmm how to word without looking like im arguing lol...

Ok tbf whats the bhp of a std STI now days?

Parkers example may not be the best?; 05-07 plate - 2.5l WRX STi Type UK 276 bhp & the 08 plates are 300hpssss.

If compared to the WRX 226BHP id say thats more of a std scoob tbh and more a match to the FWD ST 225bhp,

I was just showing how quick the ST is vs its bigger rivals with just a remap. Thats what those figres are.. DS race+ on std car.

I have a few more goodies then just the map.

The STI is the tuned version of a WRX as you know :)

Im sure a 276-300bhp std STI tuned with 1k can beat a 300bhp modded ST but it starts off as a tuned quick motor if you get me.

(Btw i love scoobs and have grown up around them and i still want one one day)

love x

Depends on whats bought i guess, i could have gone turbo rather then the stuff i got,.

No second hand ones about like there are for scoobs..

Erm lets say not including upgrading turbo or intercoolers or anything extreme,

Infact say exactly what ive done.

Decat,Exhaust,DV,Pannel filter,Remap & lowering (not full system so no downpipe yet)

What hp would a 226hp Rex get?

280 300...with no silly dump valve...standones can take up to 400bhp..Depending on who maps it and which wrx you use as some of the older ones come with vf trubos and would easily go over 300

Could do all that and buy the car cheaper then you could get a ST for

Yeah if they have the VF series Turbo in that case I'd expect them to clear 300 with the right mapping..

Just need a frp as they already come with yellow 440 injectors which come in a classic STI

Yeah insurance on the Scoobs is a bit of a pain, I guess its because the insurance companies know what will happen to them when the lads get their hands on them lol..

7k on a rex is mental, still can't understand.. I'm not even 21 yet and I was getting in the region of 3.3k quotes, and 2.7k on a classic Turbo.

Of the Classic RS and new ST I would still rather have teh RS for it's exclusivity.

They are nice but old now, i have a thing for new cars or they have to be very old for me to bother lol

11k for a decent old one with loads of miles doesnt exactly make me think yeh great rock on, id sooner blow it on a Escort cossie lol

Rs500 or Escort Cossie Now that is something worth bothering with ;)

Again insurance says no Lolz

Don't get me wrong i love the new focus st's but how many scoobys are standard these days,

As said before in other threads 270 -320 bhp will blow the socks off many supposedly fast cars.

I sit and dream of having a 450bhp 2.5 hawkeye STI, thinking how many so called supercars could touch it off the line.
