All that guy has done is buy loads of sets of rear lights from scrappy and tinted them himself. Making a huge profit. I doubt they are legal tbh.

NOT illegal if done properly by a bodyshop....

Just liek the body colourd lights some people get, the paint is thinned down so much it covers the light but stil allows all thelight through....

Sorry but this is not true. The law actually prohibits you for altering any E marked part. There also a MOT fail on many fronts. Being Dirty or Obscured is a fail and names Paint that does this is a failure on obscurity. Infarct anything that dims the light, deflects its direction or alters the colour are all fails. The only legal lights are E approved lights and altering these in any way voids there E mark and makes them illegal. There are companies that sell already tinted lights that hold E marks and are legal.

I have yet to meet anyone with smoked lights who failed an MOT.

Its like the other thread about lights with no reflectors. I posted up the actual MOT handbook fails word for word. They are clear but many people had them and did not fail. Says more about the pathetic MOT testers than the actual law. :n:

Haha, guess so.

So if I tint any of my standard lights, they're technically illegal?

Technically yes. Though as long as they still work relatively well I could imagine people getting away with it.
