people have said that bills are massive.

thats if you leave the TV on stand by, use too much heating etc... be extra careful with things and you can't go wrong

It's all about what you use etc.

When we had ours, Louise was on maternity leave - we paid £25 on Electric and £25 on Gas, when we left we was in credit. I'd budget for £40 depending on how many people are living there, but just learn stuff like don't leave lights on when not needed etc and use energy bulbs. If you are renting, make sure it's a pay monthly meter(s) as the token ones are VERY expensive.

Also Water: You have a Water Meter (calculated by how much water is used) or just Pay Monthly. The pay monthly is better as you can use what you like, but if the toilet is being flushed constantly throughout the day, showers, baths and cups of tea/coffee on a water meter, this can turn expensive.

£190 is fine for all your bills if you exclude council tax, probably not so expensive in Newport. Maybe 80 a month so 40 for you and the gf.
