whats the best wheel size and tyre size to use on a saxo for fast road/track use?

what will be the effect of running wider wheels? i.e. 7.5j or 8j

most guys go for a 15 inch wheel
normally a 195/45 tyre
however some tyres are only available in 195/50
still fine though

running wider wheels may mean you'll need stretched tyres to keep the tread under the arch
I'd be very concerned about driving hard on stretch as the tyres aren't designed to be stressed like that

7.5's and 8's will fit under the arches no problem so wouldnt need stretch tyres.

would the extra width be beneficial? as the contact area will be increased which should give more grip.

also r888's are cheaper in 195/50 so would it be better to fit these to 7.5's or 7's for example.

is it best to have a small stretch or buldge or straight side wall?

ive got 205/40/16" and they fit under my arches with no probs. increase radius by 10mm which isnt much. its a straight sidewall too so wont pop off

on track fit the smallest wheels you can as this will lower your gearing :D

r888s in a 195 will only fit from 6-7j iirc
I would keep straight sidewalls
kam have a valid point but most larger brake setups don't allow smaller wheels

i want to run a common size so that i dont pay over the odds for tyres

arent 195/45/14's going to be more than 195/45/15's?

195/45/15 is an uncommmon size. You'll struggle to find track tyres in that size too.

Better dropping to a 14" wheel and seeing what tyre sizes are avaiable

Rallye Steelies comin in 5.5j and 6j

You can run 195/45/14 on both!
