Been wondering this for a while.

You get Audis, VW and Skoda

Top of the range - Audi
Middle Class - VW
Bottom - Skoda

Anyway, how dose this refer to Saxo's, Pugs and Renults?

Why we're on the subject. What is top of the range saxo and bottom of the range, what models etc in order.

Thanks!

im guessing the vts is the top model followed by the vtr, furio, and so on untill you get to the bog standard 1.0

Do they not do a top spec Saxo that wasnt quick? A flat arch?

Like the meridian on 306s, leathers, all electrics etc.

Jorge-

They are spanish, but owned under the same company as VW and Audi now, so the Leon is pretty much the same car as the Golf and A3, but less expensive.

Audi
VW
Seat
Skoda

Renault
Peugeot
Citreon

although if you are looking at the most recent of cars, I would have to say that without that new coupe coming out in 2010 citreon has wiped the floor with peugeot.

Prickle

Lookswise I'd say there's nothing in it as I love both of them lol.

VW is the more upmarket iirc. Pricing wise and i've heard build quality wise as well!

Jorge-
17th January 2009, 13:57
Yeah I think VW just sits below Audi TBH... Especially with their cars like the Phaeton.

Agreed they are top cars but as a status symbol alot of people would see them as shit. Especially older people who rememeber the days when they were terrible!

I agree with the above. I mean I'm talking purely based on looks again, but it seems Peugeot are doing what Porsche and Aston Martin seem to do, which is come up with one good design, apply it to all their cars and then never change it. To me a brand new Peugeot looks way too similar to a ten year old equivalent.

I personally can't stand TVR's lol... Each to their own I guess.

And to me SEAT Ibiza's just look like VW Polo's in disguise.

If you were in the pub though and everyone was showing off about what cars they had.

An audi will always sound more posh than a skoda?

No ones doubting them as good cars but status wise the skoda is going to be bottom for quite a while?

I agree. But I'd rather drive a car that I liked than one I was driving purely for the "status" I mean I drive a 1.1 Saxo ffs :P

Depends what the price difference is. I'd rather drive say... a £7k 323 beemer than a megane sport.

Jorge-

Actually, now i think more, Citreon have always had the upper hand on Peugeot when it comes to larger cars. Its just the 106 / Saxo and 306 / Xsara where Peugeot were in the lead.

Look at the big old cars, the Xantia, and the C6 is a beast of a car.

Yeah fair point. I don't drive a 1.1 Saxo cus it was the only car in the world I wanted, I drive it cus it was cheap and I like it. If I had £10k to blow on a first car it's safe to say it wouldn't be a saxo.

Exactly, tbh the 1.1 saxo, for the price isn't something to be laughed about for a first car. Decent motor imo.

Well for the amount of stick it gets it's been very reliable, and when I bought it I got a load of shit of my mate who has a W reg Polo. But since he's had it he's spent at least £1200 on repairs whereas I've spent around £200... And his car was £2500 and I only paid £1200 for mine... I guess he fails :P

renault, peugeot and citroen are NOT the same as audi, VW, SEAT and skoda.

the idea with the audis and vw's etc is they use the same chassis' and they get passed down the line starting with audi then vw then SEAT. i'm not sure where skoda fit in.

the clio isnt the same chassis as the 106 and saxo.
