would not be fast mate tbh, heavy cars and under powered for there size tbh. i had my vts at 20 mate so it can be done. i renewed my insurance when i had just gone 21 and it was £704 fully comp. if your last car was a 1.2 have you thought about a vtr?
good little cars faster than your clio and only a group 7 insurance?

vtr or vts for good handling, punchy power, and the vtr cheap insurance

VTR maybe? Would probably best suit your age and experience, not too fast but not too slow.

Maybe he's not overly worried about how fast they are?

I'd say the astra even though the mk5 looks so much better. With three doors anyway.

Mk 4 astras aren't bad, their chassis are pretty neat and they're low maintenance cars. Not a bad choice.
