Okay... I've just went and tried to insure my car with Norwich Union.
£1400 on a proivisional license.
My mates £800 and he's on a full license.
What the fuck is that all about?

You may have the same car but do you have or do the same millage, job, postcode, license, points, NCB, mods, cars in the household, age, and so on? If everything is identical then I would call them up. Also have you done a quote for when you have a full license. It usually goes up so you may get a bigger shock.

Okay. I'll list what we have in common. Lol.
We've both got Saxos with around 60k. They're both stock (According to Norwich Union).
We're both students.
There are two cars in both households.
Neither of us have any points or offences.
We've got a month's difference in age.
Our cars both cost around the £2k mark.
The only difference is.. Mine is kept in an enclosed car park and his is in a drive.
Surely that's not worth £600?
Also.. I realise that it goes up. =(

I'll be phonin' very soon! Cheap-ass quote.. And it include a courtesy car, free breakdown cover.... No windscreen cover though.

Try Adrian Flux out see if they can lower it more, I live in a dodgy area, and the standard quote for a 1.1 is £2500, with flux I can get a 1.4 VTR for £1700. So could be worth a try?

No problem, aint promising anything but I've searched for about 6 months (when I was 16) and Flux keeps coming up as the cheapest online, I still get quoted by companies like eCar and Quinn (supposed cheap insurers in the excess of £3000+). I really didn't want a 1.1 so I decided just to check out a 1.4 and it was a £200 difference...Quality!
