i bump for sale topics as they soon go off the list. my fotrum defaulted to showing for sale stuff from past 2 weeks or somet like that ... so if uit dont get a bump it wont even stay in the active bit smileys/sad.gif

Take ssc for instance a for sale post will end upon page 6 within a day lol

lets ppl know its till for sale if they aint noticed it its just eager ppl to sell.

active topics only works for set time period. after that stuff doesnt show at all unless you set it too. check out how the forum works trust me it does vanish hehe

although did see some annoying post which had a bump every day for over a week. entire post was bump! socan see where ya getting angry hehe

bcos i pop on at lunch - hit active topics - and get a load of topics where people have stuck 'bump' and theres nothin new!

i do peruse the for sale sections incase somethin is cheap etc and people do update prices regularly - but all that happens currently os 'bump' 'btt' etc and it takes up my time!

no i mean thre is a cut off date for how long posts are shown before the appear hidden. if no posts on it then they dont appear at all unless you set it to.

I think it does get annoying if someone posts a question then 5mins later bumps it so ppl will have a look.

I think its ok if its in the for sale forum and if you do it once a day or every other day but not every 10 mins.

Who will? The moderators? Imagine the time taken to do such a thing!?! They could just make up forum rules regarding the bumping of threads, etc... just like they do on ssc.

But really, bumping isn't really that necessary on this forum due to the number of members and daily topics. On the other hand, on a site like SSC where there are around 18,000 members, by the time you have created a topic, it is already half way down the page.

SO your saying if you put something in the for sale section and it hasnt sold but goes all the way to the button you would leave it. Doubt that very much. Or you could creat another thread (even worse). It seems like every one agrees the fact that bumping when it isnt neccasary is stupid, like on average topic, no need. Im just saying every one makes pointless post. The same way this topic didnt need to be 3 pages long. I agree a lot of bumping, shouldnt and doesnt need to happen but somewhere like in the forsale section once a day I dont think there is a problem, until it is obvious it aint gonna sell, lol.

I am not saying this was a pointless topic, but I am sure if you cut all the winging out it would probably on be 1 page long. If anyhting it was a good topic because it has stated the fact that there is a lot of pointless bumping. THere are a few other pointless topics (not going to mention them) but they do make a good read most of the time, the problem would be like you said when people bump them for no reason.
