Wasnt sure whether to put this in the problem section but if yes please move it!

I bought a private number plate last year some time and i havnt got round to putting it on my car yet.
I looked at the retention documents last night and found out that the years retetion that the previous owner had put on it ran out in december. :panic:

If i were to put it on my car this weekend (ill prob just drive to the DVLA place in Wimbledon and do it there and then hopefully) will this matter or will i have to pay another years retention. :wall:

Or does anyone have experience of changing a plate online? Is it easy??

Thanks
Rob

I'm going through this process at the minute.

I think you'll have to pay another £25 to get a years entitlement, it's a confusing process and it is 2 years since mine were ordered.

With the retention of, you may possibly be payin another £60 retention fee and the another £25 to assign it to a car.

Luke still nothing? ID sent etc?

I don't understand private plates fully, especially rentention side.

I sent the ID off on Monday, Recorded Delivery - should of been there yesterday so I'm expecting the plates late this week I hope, then once I have them I'm off to DVLA office. Not liking this, such a farse...

I would DVLA office up and take it from there.

I'd imagine you'll need to send all documents off again and wait for a new certificate, then put it on the car.

Tek everything down to the DVLA explain the situation, they might issue a retention and a new car assingmeant there and then, infact they most probably will, if your lucky and go down in person you mgiht be able to blag just an assignmeant fee!

I got mine fron www.dvlaregistrations.co.uk which is the main HQ for DVLA Private Plates, and the price on there website includes EVERYTHING all u need to do is ge tth eplates made up and when you have take the paperwork down to local DVLA and put it on the car there and then and not pay a penny extra!
