View Full Version : Is white just a fad?
djrem

Im looking at a car.
Now "White" seems to be the new colour of choice.
Last year it seemed to be ST Orange was the choice to respray in.
I've always liked black but recently had a pot noodle horn for a white car.
Whatever i buy would have to be for at least 3 years.
At the end of that 3 years, I'm guessing the "OMG WHITE" fad would have died.
Anyway.
In the style of MJ.
Black. Or White.

tell me your not getting an M4?!
Insurance is too much.
I really like the Z4 Coupe but it has only one engine option:
3.0l so insurance is a bit mad for me : £1600.
Looking at one that is £19500, Automatic 3.0l.
35ish mpg too :)
But found one slightly more expensive that is White.
Love it in white but think its just like how i liked ST Orange last year and nearly resprayed my 106 in it.
Glad i didnt as it seemed to have caught on and killed itself off as a colour.
The M4 is a Z4 coupe with a 3.2l engine.
Mad Spec. But retard expensive to run and insure.

white does look awesome but its just a phase. it will die out in the next few years so a white car will loose more money.

My Heart wants to get a loan, rob a bank and get a White M Coupe.
But I dont have the budget for it.
Basically, I've got money saved up and my parents have said they'd double what I have but only if I get a car. (No property or Drug deals)
My brain says get a Z4 Roadster 2.5l thing in GunMetal Grey.
But I dont like the Soft Tops. And then the only Coupes are:
3.2M or a 3.0l
If I drive in to traffic London, it'd have to be Automatic too as I'm not into ragging a manual box.
I've always liked dark cars, so think that the black is a bit more laid back.
I may be an ASW online, but at McRags, subtle ftw. x

Whats your budget 10k?
I've got £10,000 so £20,000 as a result is my budget.
Really the more under £20k the better as it helps pay the insurance off in one go. :)

Yeah thats the nail on the head.
Need the car to:
1. Be something I like
2. Represent my Business image more.
For the second reason, I think black is more suitable.
White is a bit in your face all be it, a very nice colour for the Z4.
M3's are too expensive to insure for myself.
TT's, even the new one, I feel are too girlie and have the hairdresser stigmatism.
Range Rover. My Dad has jsut got one on order.
It's caused a minor controversy among the family but still, I don't fancy filling it up to run at 19mpg :n:

yea we all heard :)
as for the car colour choice black is shexi as fook but my god TERRIBLE for swirl marks!!
As for white, looks great, gets dirty quickly but would look great with black bits.... alloys etc.
IMO black wil be ALOT easier to sell, if paintwork is top notch...

White is a fad tbf. Black will always look good, but can hide the curves of a car and is a bitch to keep clean. Silver will always do well, easy to clean, looks good if not abit boring. Personally i like silver/blue and would probably have that on my next car (like Moonstone).

I've liked white cars since I've been young, but then as a kid loved the "coolness" of the black car-look like an undercover cop etc.... as I grew older loved the stealth look of a black car and black to me looks more professional.
It's not that white will go out of "fashion" (it'll be back in fashion in a few years anyway) but the fact that what you want the car for (looking good in front of your business associates/all your customers) I would go for black. Plus imagine showing up at a customers location where he watches you arrive (to him what a man drives is how he presents himself) you step out of a white beemer with black tar marks sprayed up the side from a 50 mile drive.. how would that make you look in front of him?

Do you not realise how much a dark colour shows up dirt? TBF, if your talking for a business like that, silver is the way to go. Black/Dark cars get dirty as hell and show it very badly. Trust me.

Cars don't have to be in black and white, top gear had a good point when they were talking about this in the last series.
