Oooh, so on the top strut where there should be 3 bolts popping through from the top mount, you only have one?
I wouldnt drive it atall to be honest as the single bolt alone wont hold for long atall and could be very dangerous if it snaps.
You'll need a new top mount asap
Order your gf a Taxi and see if you can get hold of a top mount tomorrow

If the threads are still poking through then it will be fine..

if only one is secured with a bolt i wouldn't drive it, even if they're still there the strut is still being held with one small bolt.

I disagree..
Early 106's only had two bolts..Also if you know how the design works, the weight of the car is pushing down and the wishbone pushing up..There is no physical chance of the strut coming out..

Yes but if 2 have already possible snapped and gone there must be a reason for that, maybe theyre old and tired.
You hit a pot hole with the last remaining bolt it wont take much to snap that one too, then you'll have the strut bouncing about and moving around severely.

Agree mate - I wouldn't want to risk it. Get it changed asap!
If the last one was to snap the stut would just move within the big hole at the top - should you hit a big bump could be an easy crash.

Hi, Thanks for your replies, she got a lift home in the end, I've not had chance to come online. The threads have snapped, with 1 remaining intact, but you can still see them, very slightly poking through.
I bought a top mount, so i'll fit it tomorrow.
Thanks again for your replies it'll stay on the drive!
