i have a knocking noise from the rear end whenever i go over bumps. it sounds like a metal mounting or something is loose.
took the car back to the place that fitted my exhausr, they tightened it & said it was fine. still there though. took it back about 3 days later as the bloke thought it may be the brackets on the car that the exhaust hangs from. BUT the noise is still there !
i've stuck my head under there a few times, including this morning & can't find anything loose.
any ideas ? been thinking of selling recently and this kinda thing don't help convincing me to keep the little sax smileys/smiley13.gif

is the noise coming from a particular side?
what about the suspension? have u had it lowered yet allan?
possibly worth while taking it to a garage for an inspection

the exhaust was knocking the bumper on the left side but they've repositioned it and dropped it down about 10mm so its not that.
Joe - suspension hasn't been lowered yet as i need a new rear axle. sounds to me as if its more on the left hand side of the car, thats why i thought it was the exhaust. but generally happens when the rear is going over bumps
think i will need to get another garage to do an inspection to be safe.
cheers for ya help guys.

alrite m8 i had exactly the same on mine, its the exhaust pipe where it bends up under the rear axle an that, it taps of the bar wen you go over bumps, i put a heavier duty exhaust rubber on the bit bout half way down the pipe to stop it bouncing and now mines fine]

Damn i havent posted on here for ages, so hello to all who probably dont remember me!
Anyways, i had the same/similar problem with my VTR.
Had my exhaust checked all okay, had it lowered but suspension was ok.
Turned out that the rear axle was on its way out, bushes had worn and the axle was making "clanging" noises over bumps.
Never got round to getting it fixed cus i smashed it before i brought a new axle lol. So thats one way to fix it!
So its probably the axle that is making the noise.
You mentioned u need a new axle to there u go.
