Struggling to start, Cuts out when not in gear

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions?

My saxo 1.1 LX wont start unless i push the accelerator down, and when i do manage to drive it, it cuts out when it isnt in gear.

I am not a mechanic but have thought it could be the idle control valve?!?

Any suggestions and ideas of how much it might cost to fix will be much appreciated.

oh and btw, have had problems for a while with the revs dropping below a 1000.

From posts on here this seems to be a common problem with saxo. I've had similar problem but never got to know what was wrong and my car hardly cuts out when stalling now and its getting serviced tomorrow so hoping after that it will be ok.

A few things may need sorting is idle control valve, lambda senser, fuel fillter pipes or something or ECU reseting. These are from what other people have said on other posts.

As for rev counter below 1000 mine does when warm normally so thats ok if it idles ok like that.
