My brother has owned his EK9 type Rx for getting on for 3 years now, and its made all the rearer that its in yellow! These cars are awesome, they are in a different league compared to a vts/Gti and other similar hatches. Handling, braking, acceleration etc are all very good as standard on the EK9. The noise of the Vtec also puts a smile on your face lol. Few pics of his:

I would certainly consider one when i fancy changing from my vts.
I wouldnt bother with a ek4 vti, they are a totally different car to an ek9 and not a good step up from a vts imo.

Im getting an EK civic for my birthday when I turn 21 in September, it is cheaper to insure than a VTS and its alot quicker.

No the ek4 vti's are not much quicker than a vts mate, my brother has had a few ek4 vti's and has ek9 (the one 2 posts above lol) he's honda through an through, and he even agree's that a vts is nearly just as quick as a stock ek4 vti. Spend some money on the vti and decent gains can be had through cams etc then your laughing.

What a b16 engined civic?
or the 1.5 vtec ones?

The ek4 vti runs a b16a2 engine, this isnt much quicker than a vts, the ek9 ctr runs a b16b engine which is alot quicker than a vts lol. The single cam vtec units are no use to man nor beast lol

They are model numbers mate. The ek was a model of civic. In this model you could get normal engine sizes i.e. a 1.4 etc and you could get a performance model (the ek vti). The ep Is also a model of civic, the ep again was offered with 'normal' engine sizes and then the type R version. This was the first civic type r shape to be launched in the UK, this is known as an ep3

is JDM kind of like the equivalent of euro for german cars but for jap cars?
is there any good websites/forums to have a look?

JDM stands for japanese domestic market. So for example when people refer to a 'jdm' civic type r they are refering to the civic type r which was launched in japan as they have a different/better spec than the ones launched here in the uk. To look at jdm stuff just go on an importers website, or you could have a look on different owners forums for example; www.ek9.org is a website dedicated to ek9 civic type r's. all of which are jdm civics ;)

When people say thats 'jdm' they mean it fits in with the style of cars from japan ;) thats the easiest way to put it anyway lol

i miss my EK9! the sound was amazing!
tempted to get another one tbh. still on EK9.org and some of the cars on there are simply stunning!
Pat - It was the same to insure as my EP3 (more than a vts btw) and you can't get more reliable than a Honda. lol

always wanted an ek9 but i cant justify the price tag for an eleven year old car with crazy mileage. i was looking £6k for one with 70k on the clock which is low but for that money i could get an ep3 which has got more toys and still a lot of fun :)

Although i'd argue that they are in a different league to a VTS. Obv once you start modifying things do change.

And if the carbon bonnet was made in the UK?
You can't say that a white car with a carbon bonnet is JDM though, its like saying lowered on some wide wheels is Euro, its not.
And just because something comes from Japan it doesn't mean that if you put it on your car your car is automatically JDM y0.

:gives: I don't care were the bonnet was made, 75% of the mods have to be made in japan if it was entered into a JDM contest..and yes its very true that you cant call a white car with a carbon hood jdm,its a common JDM style tho, as that's not what i said, what i said was, In reply to the thread that Suggests he wants a civic i said ( meaning I think they look best in white )the Honda civic, yes made in japan so already JDM.. with a carbon hood Made in japan... white / gold rays wheels sums up MY idea Of a JDM STYLE ek.., stop taking everything so seriously.

The ek9 never came in red mate ;), just sunlight yellow, starlight black, champ white, vouge silver. they made white, balck and silver ones before the face lift, then introduced yellow aswel for the face lift in 99 onwards.
