Hiya.

Had the strangest occurance just now.
I live on the bottom floor of a 3 story block of flats, and i just went outside to do my weekly shopping, and came across a man leant against my car bonnet on the phone with a letter in his hand.

Went over and asked what his problem was, and he said that my car had been reported abandoned and parked illegally and was to be towed away...
He then continued on to tell me that the person who reported the car was from 1 of the flats up above me.

I then explained i own the car and said ''As you can see the car isnt abandonded, as im just about to use it now''
He said i was lucky that i went out to the car as he was just about to put a notice on the car with details of when it'll be towed away.

Surely that aint right?

direct gov info for you (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/HomeAndCommunity/WhereYouLive/NoiseNuisanceAndLitter/DG_4001703)

To report an abandoned vehicle, you should contact the local council for the area in which it has been dumped. They will then investigate whether the vehicle has been abandoned and carry out checks to see whether it has been stolen or involved in an accident.

Technically the car shouldn't be touched if they've actually done their jobs.

This is a possible, dont pay nothing!

Your car is taxed therefore it can be parked pretty much anywhere so long as you are not blocking the road or an access.

Park it outside your neighbours house to be a penis (if you lived in a house) and they cant do nothing.

The only people who can remove your car immediately are the police, but only if its a breach of local traffic regulation orders, or is causing an obstruction or is likely to cause a danger.

Technically the car shouldn't be touched if they've actually done their jobs.

Might be what the notice was for then, saying this car will be towed away on this date then they give a number most likely, lazy investigation if you will. :clapping:

No mate, but the letter he was holding had the company logo and details of the company who rents the property to us, he seemed a sound guy tbh.
