Hi People,

I am wondering if its worth dropping a VTS engine into my VTR.

I am so undecided on what to do as the most obvious between the 2 is the power difference and gains.

I currently have a VTR but some mates are telling me to just sell this car and buy a VTS, the problem is my VTR is barely worth the price of a VTS as it currently has 138,000 miles on the clock.

Another reason i am so undecided on this is because my car looks nice, has been lowered etc and i was looking to do some more mods to the car in the near future, but it would be pointless if going for VTS.

I was thinking of just tuning the VTR i have at the moment but this seems pointless as the engine is already on 138,000 miles.

HELP? :wall:

As you've already said, chucking money at a high mileage car is a waste.

VTS conversions aren't bad you're pretty much there already with a VTR.

Changing the engine, the car will still be 138,000 miles on the V5.
The insurance for a VTR with a VTS engine is higher than a standard VTS.

It just isn't cost effective anymore.

Also, the rest of the car has done 138,000 miles so you'll be replacing other bits constantly as well imo.

You'd be better off buying a slightly modified vts at a lower mileage.

Yeah i am only 17 at the moment but the plan would be to do this after my years NCB and when im 18.

Insurance is going to be expensive you know.

The insurance will be the same for the following:
Getting a VTR at 18.
Getting a VTS at 19.
Getting a VTR with a VTS lump at 21.

Why is the insurance different if its still the same engine?
Its recently had new clutch, brakes, etc.

because at the end of the day your going to be upgrading your vtr to a vts and there guna wana no why?

Normal people do not upgrade engines.
People who want to go faster do.
And people who want to go faster, statistically, crash more.
Hence, have to pay for their ways with bigger premiums.

Yeah runs smoothly, depends if its been looked after though, i bought the car on new years eve and it was owned by a lady owner for the last 7 years and she had everything changed and got all receipts/mots/SH for it

Back on topic...

Think im just going to put £200 a side every month for a year and get a decent VTS after my NCB.
