Door card iirc is just one torx screw in the inside handle bit.
Then it just pops off on little clips.
THERE MAY BE ANOTHER TORX SCREW I CANT REMEMBER
Once it's off check the rods etc.
Take it the key goes in the lock and turns but doesn't pop the little titty knob thing?

tough one, so it will unlock from the inside but not the out side? Could be the lock had broken, its only a plastic clip after all! Good news is changing the locks is a doddle. Door car is just screwed and clipped on.

sorry i should have been more detailed
it was playing up for a while sometimes working sometimes not , and sort of got worse
now
it wont unlock from the inside or outside !!
on the outside the key goes in and turns a bit but the knob wont cum up
on the inside if i try to pull the knob up it just moves about 1mm if that and wont come up as it should

You're going to struggle to remove the door car if you cant open the door.
steve799

oh right , do you need the door open to remove it then ?

Does the dashboard wrap round the one edge of the door card? I cant remember.
It did on the Mk2 were the dashboards the same?

The solution is to change the lock.
The problem is to get the door card off you need the door open.
The Torx bolts are accessible from along the door sill but this is blocked in the interior.
You may need to pick up a replacement door card if you take it off aggressively.

have you tried spraying a tiny bit of wd40 in the lock? I used to have a similar problem (key not turning int he lock) on my old car

This is the only way I can see you getting it off mate.
Dashboard and seat will be in the way.
Rem am I right in thinking there is a torx screw between the dashboard and the door card where they meet?

with a bit of patience you should be able to get the card off with the door closed, might require new clips tho! Your going to need to use some force after all!

no chance at all without either removing dash board or cutting the door card in half!

On my old 106, it slides on to the top and pop into place.
Then the torx bolts are in the bottom and sides near the handle.
I would recommend cutting the door card with a stanly knife in the middle of the release inside the car (the door handle) and the door look.
Make a lateral rectangular incision and then use that to manually unlock the lock system with a screw driver and a set of pliers.
It is fiddily work, and have a magnet ready for anything you drop into the door card prior to getting the door open.
Definately one to do in your garage as you could get stuck half way with a car that is easy to get into.

if wd40 wont do the trick, you could undo the torx bolt where the grab handle is in the middle, but seeing as you cant get to the other one in the corner behind the dash, maybe ur only choice is to muller it. to unclip the clips, start at the corner nearest the rear wheel and just pull the doorcard. you will hear it unclipping quite loud. usually one or two of the clips break but there like 20p each from citroen. what pattern doorcard is it? some are more common than others if u have to hacksaw it off

just thinking, thats goign to be a shit to get off because it hooks onto the top and the rubber seal presses against the bottom does it not? its going to be hard without opening the door.
sounds like the lock has ceased up to me

Just thinking.... can you not get a screw driver of some sort on the catch from the inside to release it?
But if the doors locked that wont work will it?
I honestly have no idea.
Ill just talk to myself.

You may be able to just bend half of the door card around just enough to get your hand in to push the pin up etc. without undoing BOTH torx screws, you will need to undo the one in the handle bit though.
steve799
27th January 2009, 16:52
the one in the handle ? is that the bit on the inside handle that has a little plastic 'cover' on ? seems hard to get off to me ? shoudl i jst get a knife and get it off ?
Peejous
27th January 2009, 16:54
No!
There is a Torx screw sitting in the bottom of the handle (the handle on the door card inside the car)
Undo that the door card will then be held in place by little wanky plastic clips that you can buy from shitreon so dont worry about breaking them but try not to, and one torx screw and the front of the door card between the dashboard and the door.
You should be able to prise the card off at an angle.

If the door card is the same as the Mk2 ones then:
Sit in the drivers seat
Look at the door card
You see the handle thing that you use to close the door
Look Inside that. In the middle at the bottom under a lot of fluff and crap you should see it.

Had a look AND the things fu**ed !!! , i cant get the door open the door knob is going up but doing nothing
wen i pull one of the other handles on the outside of the car you can hear a sort of spring noise even wen lockd as if its pulling on something , drivers door does nothing so something has obviously become disconnected
looks like the only option is goin to be break the bastard door card and then find a new mk1 saxo door card ...
sounds fun .. NOT !

Hi, I have just the same issue on my wife's 2000 (w) Saxo, i hope this solves your problem.
Like you, the driver door would not open from inside or out. I stripped the passenger door to find out what the problem was. The door card was removed by removing the window winder (prise-off using 2 scrwedrivers) speaker grill panel, door mirror adjuster panel and the torx screws (T-20) from the door pull recess and from the front top corner of the panel under the mirror adjuster. Now just release the panel from the door at the bottom and sides and lift upwards and free from the door. Once off the sealing sheet was peeled back and the lock mechanism inspected (inside the door). I found that there is a small lever that moves on the lock mechanism when the outside handle is pulled. This lever prevents the door from being unlocked.
I then managed to remove the driver door panel enough to get my hand in and check this lever. I found that it was sticking and not springing back as it should. A spray of WD40 sorted this out and the door now works ok.
I hope this solves your problem.
