So how far do you good people commute? Also how long does it take you?
I have a great opportunity to further my career but will mean i have to travel 100 miles a day (50 each way) and would take 1.30 - 2 hrs.

I travel 40 (20 each way) 3 days / week. Takes anything from 25 mins -> hour depending on traffic.
Hell of a lot, I wouldn't really want to be commuting more than an hour each way.

About 45 miles each way to and from Uni, so 90 miles a day usually 3 days a week. Usually cover another 20 miles in between going here and there during the week.
And I have no diesel lol :(

Its alright actually, at first it was a right pain but after a while the journey becomes routine and you just get on with it, I just turn the radio up, settle down and enjoy the journey. I do try to avoid the motorways though, as that can become very tedios. I take the scenic b-road route, far more enjoyable.

I live about 3 miles from work, which is a little too far to walk. The short journeys probably arn't doing my Ibiza any favours though :(

40 miles each way, tbh its def worth it for a decent job, you get used to it very quickly,i dont mind it at all any more, get back just in time for a bit o' dinner!

My longest drive to a previous job was about 30miles each way and tbh.... I hated the travelling in that, just the fact that say you're working an 8 hour shift it makes it a 9/10 hour shift or whatever (traffic depending)

Monday and Tuesday - Either drive to uni, 30 miles each way, roughly 45 mins. Or I drive 10 mins to the bus stop and take even longer getting there.
Wed, Thurs & Friday will depend on where we're working, not usually more than 10 miles.

I travel 40 miles a day roughly - so 20 each way.
It's on the main Bradford/Leeds ring road - takes 45 minutes in a morning and 30 - 45 minutes in an evening. I have done over 12k since May 2008, doesn't bother me too much but can become annoying with the amount of drivers who can't drive lol.
Get a Diesel too ;) I only fill up once every 2-3 weeks!

i dont have a job so im only commuting to the shitter atm
Jazz
28th January 2009, 22:48
Takes me just under an hour (50-55mins average, usually traffic dependant) to do the 45 mile Uni run, and thats not using motorways. At about 2 am coming back from Uni with next to no traffic I've done the same journey in around 40 minutes, again no motorways.
With long commuting you soon get so familier with your route you end up covering it that much quicker.

Mine is currently walking downstairs from my bedroom to the office in the front room but...
Im a contractor so Ive had loads of jobs. My rule of thumb is if its more than 3/4 hour each way, forget it. It'll piss you off in the long term

Around 60 miles there, 60miles back :y:
15minute bus journey, 1hour train, 15minute walk. :A:
I do this 4 times a week.
Worth it? It isn't as annoying anymore, got used to the commute now much more bearable it is for uni though and I am on the train meaning I can just sit back and relax. Surprisingly it is much quicker via car, but more expensive.

I'd like to commute via train if my work was closer to a train station.
As much as I like driving, would relieve the stress.
