saxo is sounding like a heap of shit on startup very rickety and tappety. 5mins into my journey and it has warmed up it sounds a whole lot better. Any ideas? or this normal? i don't remember it ever being like this:geek: Was serviced 2 weeks ago

could be the valve clearances, have the valve clearances checked by the sounds of what you said the valves are out of adjustment. what did you have done on the service?

The "tappety" noise is it from the engine or the throttle body? If it goes away after a while it won't be anything major, what was done at the service? Trusted garage?

mine makes the same noise, almost like theres no oil in the engine. 68k mines on got it serviced and it made no difference

let it warm up for like 5 mins before you drive anywhere, and try using some thicker oil to stop the tappety.

just do the tappets simple.

When u had it serviced did they put a citroen filter on or a aftermarket one. im a mechanic and in my experiance aftermarket filters are no good the genuine ones have a oil trap which stops all the oil draing out of it when the engine is turned off. the aftermarket ones dont have that so there is no oil straight away on start up and it takes a little while to flow back in that could be one reason why. hope that helps.

tbh i'm using ow-40 mobile 1 could be a little thin with genuine citoren oil filter
and it was serviced at a trusted garage done 74,000 miles. Going to look at tappets if that don't solve it maybe try thicker oil. Thanks for the replies lads

if you want to stop it abit get the tappets done re aligned make sure you have the sound deadening under the bonnet

their quite noisy engines anyway...
