Hi, I took my rocker cover off to clean some of the rust off of it, and undid the 2 nuts, however, one of the bolts has 'sheared' off in the nut, and i cant reattach the rocker cover. :wall::panic::panic:
Its the bolts that come from the inside, through the cover, and then screws into the nut.
Do these bolts come out, and is it possible to replace them?:panic::panic:

Pretty sure these are part of the casting.
Which will mean a new set of rockers fitted which means disturbing the headgasket.
Havent took an 8v to bits for a couple of years so cant be 100% certain, so someone may prove me wrong.

As said in pm its just a stud like the manifold studs, get a new one from the dealers and get the snapped one out :y:

It's a removeable stud. Whether you can get the rest out of it or not is another matter though.

Would most likely be a head off job if you needed to drill it out. If you're careful, you should be able to screw it out with a set of molegrips.

dremel drill to make a slot then use a flat headewdriver to rmove, if its tight use one on a ratchet with a screwdriver bit for better leverage, way i got mine out on sump

taking the head off thats absolute rubbish who ever said that fails big time! this has happened to me before the studs are just screwed into the block so if you have any bit of the stud still sticking out then get some molegrips round it and unscrew it if not just get a stud extractor and take it out and put a new one in its an easy job:y:

If you read my post, it said 'Would most likely be a head off job if you needed to drill it out'. I dunno about you, but I wouldn't fancy drilling into a head with a screw extractor with exposed rockers and oil... at least not in situ.

Lol i can see what you mean it doesnt seem sensible but it really is ok to do those studs are soooo soft you get no vibration from removing them at all

Only thing I'd be worried about is swarf in the head... suppose you could improvise with a few sheets and a steady hand haha.

Happened to me, i overtightened a mates one and it snapped.
I would avoid driving it.
He got it all sorted for less than £20
