Is it not shiney and clean enough?
Any tips for a person with a very un-shiney and un-clean car to get it shiney?

Snowfoam, twobucket method and a good drying technique to reduce swirl marks. Duragloss 901 shampoo id reccomend. Megs last touch or britemax #6s as a drying aid.
Autoglym intensive tar remover for stubborn tar spots.
Clay: Bilt hamber auto clay
A hand polishing kit such as Carlack 68 with a german applicator pad.
Sealant id go for jeffs werkstat acrylic jett. Just as durable as ag egp but you can layer it up with no long waiting times inbetween.
Wax: Durability id go for collinites 476. Looks id go for swissvax onyx.
Bumper dressing id go for autoglym bumper care.
Tyres id go for megs endurance gel.
