Yeh could be your idle control valve, try giving it a clean, might have stuck.
Try this:

If that fails, could possibly be the MAP, LAMBDA or Engine coolant temp sensor.

Cant rmember off hand tbh. ICV cost me £30, MAP sensor you can get from a scrappy for like £5 or slip it same for the lambda, for the lambda new from a dealer about £80 onwards :y:

Might be your throttle cable sticking over 3rmp. check the butterfly (air inlet) :)

Also there just starting points, and the more common reasons. They wont neccesarily sort your problem out, but u can iliminate them.
You can get a diognostics for about £40 and see if any fualts have shown up on the ECU log.

if u look along your exhaust in around the engine u should see a sensor with 4 wires coming out of it.its usually a 21mm.unplug the wires and screw it out:y:

You have HT leads or Coilpack? not sure if that matters, but would help.

yeh thats the map sensor. and if the snapped pipe is after where the icv and throttle is then it might be letting more air in that it thinks.
