My car is a 1999 VTR with chipped keys for the immobiliser. Just repaired some frontal accident damage and now cant start the engine; turns over but now ignition - immobiliser light flashing. The engine started the day before and then I put a Ring battery charger on the battery without disconnecting the battery.
Does this year of car have a black box immobiliser or is it part of the ECU?
There is a coil reader around the ignition switch.
Does the coil pick-up for the key connect directly to the ECU?
I have tried disconnecting the battery for 24Hrs but smae probelm persists.
Emailed Ring tech support and they say it is unlikely the charger I used would have caused the ECU to be damaged!
Is there anything else to consider before getting a new ECU?
Thanks.
