What a rip off

My dad rang his insurance company up to see how much it would cost him to put me on his insurance, he drives a Y reg transit, 350, 2.5 diesel (sp) (not sure if its turbo) they said that it would cost around £1,400 & if i go on it then he cant insure his no claims bonus, something which he has been doing for the past 5+ years, & they said even if i have pass plus then it wont make any difference.

Does anyone know of any GOOD insurers that specialize in vans & he can insure his no claims & carry them over with me on his insurance, i dont really want to drive the van as its huge, but its about time i did do as he's been driving me around all this time & its nice for him to have a break.

aparently if you are under 21 then its more difficult to get insurance on a van. the bloke i work with is 24 and he isnt allowed to be insured on the company pick up because of his age!!

Yeah, he had to give the guy his number as the guy on the phone said he had a sneaking feeling i had to be 21 to be insured on it, i dont really think £1,400 on a 350 transit 2.5 worth over £10k is alot, but its the fact that my dad wont be able to insure his no claims bonuses
