^

Look really blue here, but they aren't.. Just the camera..

The 6000K ones are the best.. They just look like the HIDS that all new Audi's BMW's Lexus' etc have..

Definatly the ones to go for..

As for fitting, they come with two ballasts, These need to be placed in the engine bay.. Not that hard to hide them away in a Saxo engine bay.. I put one of them in the fuse box hidden away :D

I suggest going for the high/low beem ones as if not, then the high beam isn't HID if you get me..

This is the website I got mine from... Think you mentioned that these were the ones offering you the deal anyway :y:

Anymore questions just drop me a PM..

Hope I helped :y:

Lol thanks :y:

Yeah, the kit I bought was the Low and High beam one (the £74.99 one on this page) - http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/hid-products.html

However, as you can see in the close up pic of my headlight, there is a small orange side light bulb on lol...

Not really noticeable unless you are looking for it but would be better if it was HID also...

Maybe I could just buy like a white one or something..

Never use sides on there own anyway..

The ones UK suppliers sell are also made in Hong Kong so the cheapo ones are probably made in the same factory.

Just thought I'd let you know.

If you want QUALITY then go for the MTEC kit but they cost £135 iirc.

Is the kit made in hong long?

Haven't noticed any difference with the battery mate and i've had them installed for a good few weeks now..

The actual kit is made in Japan, as when I ordered he was awaiting delivery..

It isn't any foreign shit though.. I'm being honest, i'd say if it was crap.. Not like I work for the company or anything lol..

I've never heard of this MTEC kit before but by all means if it is really really good and you have the exta £ go for it.. But I really can't fault the £74.99 kit from Hids-Direct.. They have an ebay account with 100% feedback too iirc, the products are good and the value is good too.

Drop me a pm if you want anymore pictures of the ballasts, box it came in etc etc.. :y:

I bought the 8000k 50w kit from Hids-Direct and have had no problems with them what so ever. Never been pulled by the cops either, very little difference between the 6000k and 8000l it seems. Really good quality kits from Hids-Direct!

Delivery was also very quick!

P.s Any HID kit will fail an MOT not for being too blue but due to the fact that saxos dont come factory fitted with HID lights, dont have washers for the lenses and also dont have electronic levelling for the beam pattern for the lights.

Dont these fail on the MOT?
Because the car wasnt factory fitted with them?

They normally fail MOT on beam paten, colour, to slow to light up and a few other things.

On the other hand they are illegal because they don't comply with ECE or BS standard and so are illegal as defined in the Road Saftey Act and Road Traffic Act.

Predator_R32
5th February 2009, 14:01
Entirely up to people if they wantto go for them, it is at your own risk, but never heard many people having a problem with cops now

as for mot very simple to change over for standard lights and even some places will just pass them ;)

Plug and play yes, but if not its very easy to install ill even do a guide for it when i get mine ;)

The 10% off on hid direct will be on any kit but i am trying to sort a advertising with us out, and maybe just discount for all the time so will update when i can

There are only a few places in China producing these low cost kit most are the same but just labelled up differently. Buy a big enough order and you can get them from the B2B. You can get whatever making you like printed on them as well. You can even get them boxed up as Osram or Bosch if you like even though there blatantly not. Normally people just get fake safety and approval marks printed on them as brand will normally take you strait to court and have the money to follow though with it.

Ill ask about more discount if we get more people :y:

the first reply up there ^^^ says the main beam is halogen

Thoguht this was a Hi/Lo beam kit, meaning both the dipped AND main beam we both HID??

May be worth clearing this up just to be 100% sure

I was thinking the same, the question needs to be asked pred please

Predator_R32
7th February 2009, 01:25
Very true ill clear that up when i get a reply from him

Tbh id rather buy off hids direct, for payment issues and the kit looks of good quality imo, still have my doubts about the 59.99 kit, i think its too good to be true for that price

Spanky
7th February 2009, 01:31
i agree with you pred, before all of this HID's Direct was going to be the place i was going to get them from anyways.

They look quality, and you allways have a company to go back to incase of any problems....

Im sure they do something like a 2 year warrenty aswell....

Predator_R32
7th February 2009, 01:37
Have asked anyway, he will have about 3 emails off me now lol

But yeah hids direct im happy with there 74.99 kit is decent and well priced and we get 10% off which isnt bad at all, have asked for a bit more and for them to advertise on out site if neds be

do the HID Direct ones have the Hi and low beam as Xenon? rather then one xenon and one halogen.

is that £74.99 delivered? and is there still 10% to come off that?

Spanky

The HID directones are HID for both hi and lo beam yes :)

not sure on your price question though :)

Predator_R32
7th February 2009, 01:59
Its 6.50 postage from hids direct mark and yes 10% is stil lto come off price but im not sure if its off just the kit or both postage and kit combined

Still need to ask more questions though, be patient :p

Mark51
7th February 2009, 02:03
just had a look on their site

£74.99 - HID's
£6.50 - Shipping

TOTAL = £81.49 - 10% = £73.34

a 15% discount would be better as then its under the £70 marker.

Spanky
7th February 2009, 02:05
i agree.

Go for 15% pred, go on, push him. push him i tell you :D

Mark51

i was interested until i saw the price of replacement bulbs, £50 plus p+p!!!!
at that price i wouldn't want the bulbs to ever go! you may aswell buy a new kit!

Predator_R32
7th February 2009, 23:28
I looked at that too but they last a hell of a lot longer than normal bulbs

ill deal with that when i come to it, dont always have to buy from them, and maybe by then they will have come down in price

DJDannyB
7th February 2009, 23:36
jesus thats expensive for a bulb lol

Mark51
8th February 2009, 08:15

Mark51
8th February 2009, 08:51

Well guys the 59.99 kit on ebay we cant get any more discount i did try plus i dont think we will want the kit anyway, its not hid on low and high beam just the one, so i think we could safely say that hids direct is best so far :y:

i may be in this group buy not sure yet with all the legal questions that have been asked....a good friend of mine works for aceparts and his uncle owns it so im gonna ask about the discount direct to see what they give....

Predator_R32
11th February 2009, 17:20
That would be ace baker thanks :y:

Ok update from another compant which seems very promising indeed imo, the kit usually sells for 109.99, we would get 25% off with 10 orders, free delivery and a free set od xenon led sidelights worth about 8.99. The kits arent on the site yet and he said pro elite kits which sounds even better :p and not made in chine so we know there gonna be quality.

I have emailed him back as we now have around 15 people see if i can get anymore off, i feel cheeky but you dont get anywere without haggling in life ;), tbh im very swayed unless hids direct come back with a better offer (tbh there not very good for contacting), just waiting game to get the best deal for a top quality kit ;)

Heres the email anyway

that link was for interior lights, found the headlight pics... it says on one of the pics 10k - now correct me if im wrong but they are illegal lol. f**k it haha blue'er n brighter the better i say.

so from HID Direct they are £73.34 but from this new plac they are £84.99 but we get a free set of side lights?

tbh id rather have the extra £10 in my pocket and go for HID Direct

11th February 2009, 23:17
Yeah i know mark but i think the quality of the kits look good from this place, just rather have quality

oops meant to ask what temp you going for, 6000K or 8000K?

DJDannyB
12th February 2009, 10:49
6000k i think he said, there brighter arent they?

Predator_R32
12th February 2009, 11:55
Well you get to choose whick bulb intensity you want guys

4300k is going to be the brightest and more white, the more k you go the more blue they get

heres a picture (doesnt show 4300 but thats what the options are on the site)

DJDannyB
12th February 2009, 12:48
mint deal imo.. Just need the cash quick now dont i lol. I like the 8000 but arent they illegal?? and will they melt angel eyes as im getting some in a few months

Timlowthian
12th February 2009, 12:50
Yep im definatly still in! Can i ask though which color temp would be the best for vision? id rather be able to see alot more than have blue ones lol

DJDannyB
12th February 2009, 12:52
i want legal, and ones that work in angel eyes. when are you thinking of ordering pred??

Predator_R32
12th February 2009, 12:59
the 6000k is meant to be best for road use, 4300 will give you better brighter lighting but imo it will seem liek you have full beam on all the time

DJDannyB
12th February 2009, 13:02
well 6000 will probs be best for legallity then?
and do you know if 6000 is ok with angel eyes?

Predator_R32
12th February 2009, 13:05
Am not sure which angels have you got, did you post a thread on it???

DJDannyB
12th February 2009, 13:10
no i didnt.. i havent got any yet,, im getting some in a few months before MOT.. I will be getting Smoked Mk2 Angel eyes

Predator_R32
12th February 2009, 13:33
A think they may melt them mate, standards will be ok, but i think angel eyes well some are made of different materials, the working temperature on site says 105 degrees so am not sure if that means when it will work or operating temperature

Could ask the people who sell angel eyes what temperature rating there lights are

WestCoast98
12th February 2009, 14:41
id go 6000K, stay legal on standards (would go 8000 but maybe its bit too much) and just spray headlight surrounds black (like ultra smoked ones).
6000 :y:

chriswoodward
12th February 2009, 15:07
yeah pred mate im in

Jtizzle
12th February 2009, 15:19
they fine in angels!? Cos on side says no HID kits

Predator_R32
12th February 2009, 15:20
In that case they wont be mate, im sure the front lens on angels is a plastic rather than a glass

Timlowthian
12th February 2009, 15:55
Yeh front lense and the actual angel melts! Know this cause happened to a mate even though i warned him lol! As Pred says the lense is made from plastic on angels where standards are glass!

wicked-vtr
12th February 2009, 15:59
they wont melt standard lights right? sorry, prob a stupid question, am i right in thinking they only melt angels cause the rings are plastic? and when you ordering? i might be interested if i can get some cash in time :P

Berg
12th February 2009, 16:04
they are fine with standards because the headlights are glass

angels the whole light is plastic inside and out therefore, meltage!

ill let you know tomorrow if im in for 6000k

wicked-vtr
12th February 2009, 16:25
oh didnt know they where all plastic lol :S and you still get high beams and dipped beams yeah? and are these sidelights equally bright?

Mark51
12th February 2009, 16:42
when do you need payment? i am actually seriously skint but im not pulling out, theres nothing worse than people putting their names down on the list and then pulling out at the last minute and risking loosing the group buy deal for everyone else.

Spanky
12th February 2009, 17:17
when do you need payment? i am actually seriously skint but im not pulling out, theres nothing worse than people putting their names down on the list and then pulling out at the last minute and risking loosing the group buy deal for everyone else.

Same question mate as i might have some money later on in the month :)

adam_saxo
12th February 2009, 18:26
Im still in! After the 6000k! Good haggling there pred, great deal!

Timlowthian
12th February 2009, 18:34
Yeh would be good to no this is happening! Got the money readys!

DJDannyB
12th February 2009, 23:37
im gonna have to back out if it needs paying really soon...

infact im not sure whether ti get any though.. If my headlights were still perfect then i would but, when i sprayed my inserts, i broke one off the reflectors which now probably means the beam will be out when it comes to MOT and also they seem to get condensation inside them sometimes.. So basically they look mint, but there no good for MOT. So this is why i wanted angel eyes... a nice new set of lights before MOT as i really like them but cannot put this kit in them so i would be wasting my money?

Predator_R32
12th February 2009, 23:44
Smoked standards is the way to go

Im sure theres a few types of angel eyes though mate, cheaper ones use a
plastic lens and other ones use glass

yould always use the glass from standards onto the angel eyes if thats the case

DJDannyB
12th February 2009, 23:49
i think i would rather have standards smoked than angel eyes tbh.. I just wish mine werent fucked!!! does anyone know where the adjuster is and how you do it, for the beam on standards?? i might try adjust it and see if it still works... The up/down adjuster from the dash works fine.. just when i press the back off the H4 bulb it rocks back and forward lol.. And im trying to figure out how to fix the condensation too.. sealed them with silicone now so dont know how its happening..

Predator_R32
12th February 2009, 23:49
Forgot to add payment isnt going to be given to me

Heres the lowdown,

Basically ill be looking to get this done at the end of the moneth when people usually get paid, maybe onto beginning of march

Andi at xenonshop will give me a code and ill pm that to you all and anyone else wanting in

You order the H4 kit and choose your bulb (for example 6000k)

Once you get to the shopping cart you enter the code and then enter your payment details etc

Andi will more than likely contact me when and if we get 15 people and put the orders all through, or we can phone up but i think the code thing is easier tbh

Are people still wanting to go for it even if we only get 10???

DJDannyB
12th February 2009, 23:53
Oohh i get paid beginning of march, i owe money out like but i may be able to stay in on these lol

baker556
12th February 2009, 23:54
Still waiting upon aceparts to get back to which should be tommorrow but they will more than likely be roughly the same price so i wouldnt hold back this seems quite a deal.

Predator_R32
12th February 2009, 23:55
Ok mate just keep it updated, ive emailed andy again for some more answers

Anyone want to add any questiosn for me to add so they can be answered??

Spanky
12th February 2009, 23:58
yes,

can i have one for free as im skint and deprived of good vision

Reason why they should give me it for free - they will feel good hat there is one driver out there who is safer than he was :D

On a serious note, i am up for this but i dont no if i will have the money att he time, ehnce why my name is not on the list yet.

Once you no a date for payment etc i wil then be able to say if i am defo in or defo out :)

Predator_R32

Just a bit of info for you guys who may be buying them..

6000K is the way to go. 8000K or anything brighter you stand a very high chance of getting pulled..

Predator_R32

They don't pass mate as Saxo headlamps are not projector headlamps and therefore these bulbs aren't legal in them..

But yeah, it's just plug and play so for my MOT next month i'll just be putting the old bulbs in :y:

Well i imagine he will wait till ge gets 15 people first before putting them through, as he did say he needs 15 people for it to be 75 quid

so does that mean we will have to wait until the whole 15 people have paid before he will send them out?

ive just ordered a set from hids direct. does anyone have any ideas on a delivery time for them ?

Cheers

why not cancel that order and jump in with this group buy?

Ok spoke again i have the code from him and he said he will do discount on any kit that people want ie H7 etc etc

Im just asking a few more questions before i put the code up guys and yeah mark need 15 before he will post them out ;) i think the discount is done on how many he gets so it gets cheaper and cheaper the more we buy, am not sure though

Mark51
18th February 2009, 14:26
this really needs to be checked mate, as im not happy sending them my money in hope that another 14 people will pay. it could take another month for the other 14 people to pay which would mean a massive delay for everyone that has paid early.
also without trying to sound more pessemistic than i already do what would happen if we dont get the 15 people? would we get our money back? would be be expected to pay the extra money?

Predator_R32
18th February 2009, 14:43
Well he said he will keep the buy open for 30 days, its a trusted company mark, also you have the option of paying by paypal or card when you go through the secure checkout, at least with paypal you have a way of getting money back if it goes wrong which i very much doubt it will

id take all money but tbh i dont want that responsibility as it causes arguments etc

Anyway heres the email he sent me

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p305/Predator_VTR/Random%201/Capture-4.jpg

People feel free to order

if we dont get 15 then he will contact me, i think we should though, think it will take aroud 3 weeks to get them ordered but hopefully less, im not fussed on the wait if im getting the discount

just im jobless at the moment, and have no money coming in, so i would prefer to pay and receive in a few days rather than pay and be waiting a few months before anything comes.

The money may be needed elsewhere for a start, hence why i have not fully put my name on the list yet.

EDIT - personaly i think this would o fbeen better if everyone sent pred a deposit to say they wer defo going to buy.

Then i would be abit more confident sending my money to them and waiting for others to send theres....

I've gone for 6000k, but just reading now through some websites they say that cars that have hid/xenons etc as standard are 4300k

I think i might change mine for that, dont want mine looking too blue. Shame i dont know anyone with 6000k so i can have a look

Fitting is very very easy mate, ill even do a guide on fitting them and ill even guide you through it if needs be by pm

its a plug and play kit, so for mots you very easily swap them over to standards

the legal/illegal issues

basically you shouldnt put one on a car that doesnt come with them, but tbh i see a lot around and spoke to a few people and they havent been puleld or had any bother

tbh there safer, they dont really blind people, ive read somewere anyway

the bluer the bulb then you will more than likely be pulled, have a look at the chart in first post, picture of the k of the bulb and how they shine

ive went for 6000k as its not too blue has a slight tint of it in and not too white

i know this is going to sound a daft question but i'm going to ask anyway.
On the website it says an 'unconditional warranty' 'no questions asked'.
does this mean then if the bulbs go in the first 12 months, they will replace the bulbs? Reason i ask is they say hid bulbs last much longer and for the price, they frigging should (£49.99!!) However, normal bulbs tend to come with no warranty. I don't want to spend £70 for them to last 2 or 3 weeks before a bulb goes and have to spend £50 on some new ones!

don't want to sound like i'm moaning, its just money is hard to come by for me at the moment so i don't want to spend it on something that won't last.

cheers :y:

Best thing to do if you get stopped, is say that they are E Maked but it is on the box... if that fails, most units with be DOT Registered, that usually blags the police mans head..

ive read threads about them been illegal but never heard of anyone been pulled and done for them. point to 'E' mark on them (assuming they have one) and a normal copper will just let you go.

Like iv said above, NO unit will be E-Marked, because they are not legal to fit as they are amplified by the ballast, but if you can blag that they are DOT registered, which they should be, this means the Department of Transportation approves of them, that can usually get the police off your back.

As for MOT's, with mine, i used to leave the balasts and wiring there, and just unplug the bulbs and put standard back in, honestly a 2 minute job.

Hope this is some use to people :)

P.S i didnt get stopped for my lights, it was my twatish driving, and i have never known anyone to be fined for them :)
