little advice buying a vtr

I am looking into buying another vtr mk1 , its dirt cheap, the guy has lost the 4 digit code for the immobiliser, was wondering, if i went down there with an unlocked ecu, would it work??

Only a Citroen dealer can reset it I believe

ahh, reckon its worth it? in green with no mot or tax. but it says its all mot prepared, 250 quid?
