Iam going to be booking my car in for a m.o.t next week, ive had my car since the start of this year & has had on average a good run once a month, its started up daily, i need to know a list of things i should check before i book an m.o.t as i want it to sail through, even though i dont think it will, also there is a spot of rust under neith the back end, will they fail the car for that? will they fail the car for having front tints on the window? will they fail it for having quite a big slash on the side of a tyre even though i super glued it back?
Please help out people, thank you

WTF id get a new tyre mate there the only thing in contact with the road so are very important
check the lights are working
the rest of the tyres
if you can jack it up check for suspension joint wear
not sure about the tints
if the rust is part of the chassis yes plus depends how badly corroded it is

Yeah i think it is part of the chassis, i was thinkin of rubbing it down & sticking a bit of spray paint the same colour as the car on it, i might just try risking it with the fucked up tyre, it isnt that bad, afterall iam after getting some new rims soon so no point in getting a new tyre really, i'll check the depth of them & see if they are road legal aswell, yeah i'll get it jacked up over the weekend & have a good look under it, cheerz for the help bud

Just had a quick talk with my dad, the rust is by the toe eye on the rear & it isnt that bad & my dad says it wont fail on that, he said it will fail on the tyre though, so iam now going to have to borrow money to buy a brand new set of alloys, theres a few blubs on the back not working, but i will be buying some new one's once i get my rear smoked lights, just making a list of bits i need to get from citroen & need to get the bumpers back on & the bump strips on the side.

its a trick of the trade, but check your c.v boots before you take it for m.o.t becauase its a classic trick they play on you, they rub grease on the outside of the boot and tell you your boots split/failed and that you need a new one.they try that if they cannot find anything else to fail it on.BEWARE

My dad took his van in for an m.o.t & they didnt fail it, so iam going to take my car there, they seem good enough to me, & if they try failing it on something that isnt there then or was in perfect condition then i'll tell them where to stick it & drive my car away

If i put my spare steel wheel on, will it pas the m.o.t or will it fail? the steel wheel is 165/70 R13 79T & the alloy is 185/55 R14 80H, also if that wont work, could i stick my mums corsa sxi 4 stud on mine just for a few days to get it through its m.o.t, or are they the totaly wrong offset? however they are 4 stud

Also another thing, ive cut my rear arches so i could put my VT* arches on, & ive put it all back to standard now, & below the rub strip theres a bit of a sharp edge where ive cut the arch, will a sharp edge fail on the m.o.t?

sharp edges will fail. dont fuck about with tyres that are fuked, they will fail. if you have two different size tyres on any one axle (front and back) it will fail. check all lights work or it will fail. check front wipers arent split (back doesnt count) check all seatbelts work or it will fail. exhaust blows - fail. any play in joints, prob fail. emissions too high, fail. brakes binding or out of balance - fail. other than that you should be fine!!!

What should i do about the sharp edges then, try & smooth them off so they arnt sharp?
Thanks for the tips
EDIT- Iam going to put my mums alloys on my car so they will all be the same size all round & have very good tyres as they have done just over 20k
