Door Pillar Tape

What is behind the layer of black tape on my Black VTR? Is it just normal paintwork or is it untreated/unpainted bodywork?
Will it be safe for my to rip the tape off, or will I need to do something before I take it off?

What is the purpose of this tape anyway?

Normal Paintwork mate.

I used an hairdryer to heat it up and it helped peel it off. Totally fine to take off, but when removed I used some Methlyated Spirit (Purple Liquid) to remove the sticker residue and then I polished the paintwork as the Meths leaves it dull looking.

yeh its normal m8 i took mine off today to put my streamline carbon replacement trim on just make sure u give a good clean n get rid of any sticky that might be left over, which, luckily for me was none :y:
