Right well the story starts a few days before christmas, I was driving behind a toyota hilux and heard a massive bang, Turns out i had hit a stone off a dry stone wall that the hilux had just drivin over but i didnt see it, I notice oil pissing everywhere so i think to get home. The gear knob is moving all over the place when i roll, then accelerate it would jump about, Anyway i got it to a garage and had to get a new gearbox put it, Well a reconditioned one....
Anyway last night my car wouldnt go into gear and now the gearknob is moving about all over the place again when i accelerate then let the car roll, but the car is driving quite normal, unlike last time? so i was wondering WTF has happened now? :y:

sounds like dodgy gear selecters mate, if ya gear knob is moving everywhere its ya selecters, they keep ya knob in the rite position.

Its making some dodgy noises aswell, I cant let the clutch out fast or there will be a massive bang noise??
If im accelerating the gearknob is in one position then if i just roll it moves about 60mm or so, So its quite alot of movement. Unlike last time where my gearbox went though the car still drives alright apart from not being able to let the clutch out fast?
Help...:y:

i vote rear engine mount, if there mounts shagged it will let the engine rock back and forward. the gear knob will obviousl move with the engine, id have a look at that first.

Also check the gear linkages this would explain movement in the gearstick and banging when selecting gear

id say gearbox mount.
If it happens when you let the clutch out fast then its forcing the engine to move suddenly, resulting in knocking something

Ive sorted it now, Thought it was the engine mount or the bush but it wasnt any of them they had just not put the bolts in tight when they fitted the new gear box!
Knobs!!
