I am considering buying a new HU that has a Cd player on it because at the moment I only have the standard Citroen one. Does anyone know if it makes a difference which one I buy- I dont want to find that the outputs for the speakers on the new HU are too powerful for the stantard front and rear speakers?

I also took my car to a standard car shop and asked to get the pins to take the radio out- and also asked the bloke to demonstrate how to get the radio out at the same time, but he couldn't get it to come out and said that I will need to take it to shitroen to get them to have a look at it. Has anyone else had this same problem?

I would rather do it myself and save the hassle of driving to the nearest dealer where they will probably try and charge me for this simple thing!

Cheers all

unit removes easy took my standard headunit out of the vts and replaced it in under 10mins and that was a couple of mins looking for the loom (i was sitting on it)

get the usual dual prong release keys, bend them to become single, stick them in, pull it out.

New headunit would over power standard speakers but only when playing loud, normal volume wont sound all that great but will be fine

if i was to replace the in door speakers with more powerful ones would it just be a case of taking out the old ones and plugging in the new ones (ie Would I not have to do any re-wiring, i have no idea how to do it and dont think that i could do a good job)

ud need to drill front speakers out mate, they are rivetted in. then jus cut the wires from the standard speakers and then connect them new wires to the old ones with block connectors and screw them back in

yer, i mean i wouldn't have to do any re-wiring, it would be a case of taking out the original ones by pulling the block connector out- then puttin the new speaker in?

Would it be the same for the one's in the back (underneath the windows), and will there be connectors for these speakers on the HU. cheers

just connect straight up to the origional wiring, same at the back though the rear speakers are not as easy to get to. Dont bother with the rears either spend the money from them on getting better front components

Hi, Please can someone help. Ive just put some new speakers in my parcel shelf and wanted to wire the back speakers to the new ones. Is there any way of getting the cover of the back speakers off? Is it just meant to pop off or would it break if I forced it? Please can anyone suggest what to do?

Thankyou
Jenna

Wow, a very, VERY old thread revived here!

You have to take off the whole rear "door" panel to gain access to the speaker. It's not quite the same as the front one. Just take out the rear bench and it gets pretty obvious from there.
