The fuel pump won't prime when the car is cold. I know this is often the battery but this has been replaced. Also having trouble with the car occasionally cutting out when cold.
Any ideas?
Thanks:y:

is your temp sensor working correctly as these do play a big part on the cars starting and running?

The engine coolant sensor? If that's what you mean then yes it has just been replaced.
Had to have my ECU repaired due to a fuelling problem and the company recommended this sensor be replaced.

ok so thats all good, what makes you say the fuel wont prime? cant you hear it?

Nope I can't hear it. Sometimes if I turn the key back and for a few times it will prime (I hear it prime) and then it will start. Other times I wait until midday and try again, fuel pump will then prime no problems.
The car has also cut out a few minutes after getting it started a couple of times. The fuel pump will then not prime and won't start again for a while.

its not the fuel cut off under the bonnet tripping the pump out? might be worth looking at that

The big red button? Tried pressing that but it don't make a difference and to my mind it wouldn't explain why it'll work later on then when I don't press it.

When you turn the key, does it sound like it wants to start or does it sound like when the battery is flat and you try to start? If you get my drift.

It sounds like it's trying to start but there's no fuel getting through. I know it's not a battery problem, had plenty of that before. As soon as the fuel pump primes it will start no problems.

Alternator?

Can't see why the alternator would cause this problem?

Sorry geez, my mate reckons it could be the injectors or the spark plugs

What difference would the injectors and spark plugs make? There's no fuel getting to the injectors and spark plugs because the fuel pump won't prime.

my guess the fuel line is crimped somewhere and the fuel is under pressure and getting trapped. try behing the carpet where the line enters the car behind the passenger seat ;) if not get you ecu reformatted and rule that one out. the only other option could be the fuse between the fuel pump is dodgy so check there. iirc its a 10a in the engine bay. if you put a feed in the two slots you should be able to hear it prime ;)
