as above was working at a house today and the guy has a 1988 escort rs turbo totally standard. only 52k miles full history. owned it from new and still looks like new. garaged everyday/night never seen a wet day. what do you think its worth? he`s thinking about selling it and i feel i should be the buyer. he is thinking arround the 3grand mark. i feel i should buy it and keep it the way it is. keep it as a classic car if you know what i mean. what you think? worth it? cheers

it is totally mint. for the fact the guy is the only owner is very rare on these things aswell. ive been going to this guys house for years and always admired it. plus its strange to see one with a standard tail pipe lol. i think i should buy it cause it would be very hard to find another like it

As said, 3k is a bargain for a well looked after, un-abused RS, put it this way, if its as good as you say it is, you cant lose on it.

Well whats the problem then? Keep it hush hush, give him 3k and away you go!! :P

I mean look at how much sierra cossie's are worth now!! Even the escort cossie's, they are classics, still going for 15k etc!

Car is worth more by sounds of it, buy it and sell it in fast ford mag.

3k is an absolute bargain if it is how you say, any pics?

sorry no pictures. would be strange asking the guy for piccys. plus it was in a garage. he`s talking bout selling it shortly along with his other car then just buying one. so i think ill phone him tomorrow ask him to give me a shout 1st when he is ready to sell.

Really not my sort of thing but £3k is probably fair for the condition, as said it's a car with a future and should appreciate, though don't get any ideas about it being mega money at any time soon, they don't have the pedegree of the Cosworths and will always be viewed as the lesser car.

Provided you can keep it garaged and in the style it's become acustomed to, there's no reason why you shouldn't enjoy the car, it shouldn't lose you money nor is it likely to require big bills at any stage.

Don't mod it in any way (even a chip) as this will really effect the value

I know a guy, who had an F reg one, red, 42,000 miles totally unabused and standard, spotless, engine bay was polished to the max, beautiful car! He got £5500 and a little R reg corsa for it 2 years ago! So i think your getting a good buy!

Good buy by the sounds of things matey, I've got a mate who'd kill for one and he'd snatch it up at that price. If anything you could just sell on again and make a tidy sum.

Concourse perhaps? Aslong as your garage doesn't have a leaky roof you should always find it in one piece ;)

Hmmm i dont think so, he sold it to a local guy, not unless it was through ebay, but i doubt it! But yeah you see the ragged ones go for pennies sometimes but the real gems are worth a fair bit!

1988 is the series 1 which are alot rarer. the 'custom' ones, whithout elecy windows etc are rarer still and DEFO worth £3000!

its not a series 1 its a 2. its a E reggie i think thats a 1988. as for buying it am still in 2minds about it tbh. don`t know what to do at this point. it won`t be going anywhere just yet so its not a rush to buy it thing. as its not for sale at this point. ive got plans for my money its either buy another flat or get this car. this is whats making my decision so hard.
