Westcoast/Furio.
Unless you want to get a 1.1 and fit a VT kit.

as said above, westcoast or furio, loads of people your age want to dive straight in and get a vtr/vts at 17, and imo you need driving experience before you go getting one of them. Furios and westcoasts will still sting you on insurance slightly, but they r pretty decent cars to start with

welcome to the sight. I started out with a furio with gti leather and polished vts wheels on a black car it looked mint and with a few engine mods it went like a vtr

Same as me, but mines blue with aftermarket alloys.
Try egg.com for insurance on a furio, i got quoted 1600 which is quite good, im only 18 no ncb.
Also, my advice is dont spend too much money on your first car, therefore you can go tpf+t and it doesnt hurt so much if you get bumps and scrapes :P

depends how much ypu want to spend on insurance but i found at your age i was paying £1600 for a 1.2 sxi corsa and my mate got a 52 plate VTR and was paying £980, so if i were you id just get on compare the maket or confused and just check out b4 you buy a 1.1 you might regret
