If it doesn't have the bias valve fitted, it doesn't have bias. (alot of cars don't) If you want to though you can fit the bias valve to a drum rear beam, but you have to change a few brake pipes.

Also intrested to know this, if i were to convert a rear drum car to a rear disc car what would i need. Obvisouly a rear beam+handbrake cables but what else pipe wise?

Or if i wanted to fit a hydraulic handbrake to any rear beam how would it be done because it operates off the main brake pedal and seperatly a handbrake yet using the same caliper as such..

youd need to chop and flair the lines to go into the bias valve and that should do the job
or you could set it up without the bias valve nd use the drum lines if you want (i personally wouldnt)

hydraulic handbrake needs custom lines from a twin port m/c running trough the car into it and out of it to a t piece back out the car and to the calipers
its a lot of work tbh

Also a hydraulic handbrake wouldn't pass an MOT, need to have a cable operated parking brake.

What about new renault senics, passats with electric handbrakes?

i was told it was ok if it was hydraulic aslong as you kept the ratchet lock i.e could use it to hold the car on a hill.

Parking/Emergency brake must be on a seperate braking system to pass a MOT.

Think if your handbrake is hydraulic and the system develops a leak, the handbrake wouldnt work, hense why the handbrake is usualy a cable system! :y: Even the new VW's even have a handbrake/emergencybrake although foot operated is on a cable and the electric ones i assume work on a different circuit to allow them to work when the usually braking system has no fluid in, the same way a cable does. :)

Mercs have had foot operated parking brakes for years.... Even the electric one's are cable operated (the ones I've seen anyway) Just think how hard it would be to hook up an electric operated clamp to the discs themselves without it filling with shit from the road.
