i took ma car to to get lowered today they did the front springs fine but the torsion bar was seized, and said the only way lower it would be to take the back axle off and work at the torsion bar from there which would be a 7hour job= £300ish any other ways i could do it cheaper would by a new torsion bar be better or anyother ideas?!!?

LOL there just bullshitting you mate, if it takes them 7 hours to remove 2 torsion bars seeized or not theres somthing up, 2-3 hours max. Why buy new torsion bars you stil have to get them out. Try another garage.

Little trip up the M1 gets you to RickyP in Barnsley mate, he'll no doubt be able to do it for ya, for a lot less than that.

Or a socket and bolt is just as good, and plenty of WD40, If they mean the washer again some heat to break the seal of rust, wd40 and some persuasion and it will come out, shouldent take 7 hours, Wouldent like to have them do a headgasket, would be a weeks job.

No don't heat it, because of the bearings etc.
and if it gets hot then and then goes cold, it will be even tighter,
Get a big bar, and hit the torsion bar from oneside,
but get someone to look at the other side, to make sure the trailing arm isn't falling off as the bearings will fall out if it does,
if the trailing arm does look like its coming off the otherside, get someone to hit it back on with a lump hammer why the other person is hitting the torsion bar, this is the way me and my brother did his,
oh yeh, when you have got them out, get a 8mm tap and make new threads in the side of the torsion bar, and just put normal 8mm bolts in them, ( 13mm ) spanner size insted of the shit torx bits.
Cheers Adz

He's awesome at it mate. Think he charges somewhere in the region of £100 or a bit less for just the torsion bar.
