well where your young, you cant afford to pay high insurance rates, so thats reason for small engines. Also its kl to drive like a complete dick when young, shows how good a driver you are (lol)

14th February 2009, 18:57
as above, when young you drive like a tit, well i definately did big time, but it was in 1.2's and 1.4s becuase of insurance

14th February 2009, 18:59
its because they are so slow that you have to drive them like a tit to get any power out of them lol

i woudlnt sayi drive my car like a tit, reason being is a i no if i crash it thats it lol (already been there)

But i do like to have a good old fly around sometimes, 3 wheels on corners, etc etc

Mainly only on back roads late at night tbh

No one of these chavs who lieks to see how fast he can get down his street, of how many handbrakes turns he can do in a car park (unless its snowy ;) )

do somtimes liek to let her blow a kiss at the redline in 5th on the motorways every now and then.

Call me a cock if you wish, but i have no need to lie lol

ricksimmonds

i think its more the age and maturity level tbh, if had a 106 gti for 1st car i would be 6 feet under now pushing up daiseys!

Mikey

Ive allways been ok on motorways, only ever push the car that far when its like nie on empty inthe early hours.

Although ido like just cruising at 70 then planting my foot and feeling the power :homme:

Only ever had one lary moment and it was doing 120mph and sudenly seen a hedgehog (hate killing things) but was all so quick and i idnt wana swerve so just heard a bumm bump, but to top it off there was some crazy idiot crossing the motorway about 500metres after the hedgehog!!!!!

Right under a bloody foot bridge to!!

Misse him by about 5 metre, which at that speed wasnt much!

I quickly slowed down...

The only time i rev my car really high in the rev range is if i need it to pull through the higher gears like going onto a dual carriageway

Yes it seems the case does'nt it?

I had a 1.2 Corsa so far up my chuff, i thought he wanted to steal my spare wheel!

We then proceed to pull up at lights, where his passenger look's over with his Nike Cap so far up his head it was not worth wearing, and also a gelled fringe and started saying " you up for this mate, you ready?"

I mean are they serious, just a simple hand gesture and snailed of the line, as im not giving him the satisfaction.

He is probably to this day wrapped around a BP garage forecourt somewhere ... shame!

lol you probably wouldnt of felt much if you hit him at that speed anyway, he would of being doing superman impressions!

Yes and no.

Yes because you do see a hell of a lot more smaller engined cars being ragged about the place, but that's because they are usually driven by young and immature drivers.

No because I know a few people with bigger engined cars who are exactly the same (CTR, Corsa 1.8 SRi and even someone with an Astra VXR) and rag their cars around everywhere.

It's purely down to maturity in my opinion, and due to the fact most small engines are driven by young drivers, they are mostly immature. I am 19, vtr as my first car, had it a year and a half almost now and yes, I have "raced" a few cars, but 90% of the time, I do not bother as it's in dangerous conditions, not worth the effort as I would clearly win/lose or I just can't be arsed to waste the petrol.

every once in a while i get someone like this and if its quite then i do give him the satisfaction of getting beat, ( only when the traffic lights are like 200 metrs apart and i havnt really got enough room or time to get over 40 or 50 )

as long as its QUITE, and your NOT wheel spinning and hitting about 90mph in a 20mph zone and swerving all over the road then i dont see the problem with a little 100 - 300 metre "race". :p

I work at a Petrol Station and it drives me mad! :wall:
Plenty of the little tossers with stupidly loud exhausts and that love to wheelspin on and off the forecourt thinking they are the dons of motorsport with just as ridiculous barry bolt on "performance" parts!

we get alot of twats like this down near me, one of them lost his licence, hopefully it taught him a lesson not to drive like a twat 100% of the time, because he got it back yesterday :n:

You only rag your 1st car as it's the thrill of being a new driver.
I've kindly have done around £2500 - £3000 pounds worth of damage to my mums car in my first 2 months of driving. Needless to say she was very thankful.
But since getting it back in December after having to make a fault claim i no longer drive fast at all.

15th February 2009, 03:59
i raged the tits off my punto 1.2 then my 106 1.1 i caned the arse off it. i think as there slow you need to rag them just to make them move. now i have some power there no need. tap the throttle and your doing what the 1.1 was doing anyway :)

lol at this thread......

i say it exists............

yes people will rag the sh*t out of their car, any car they get their hands on, which generally is a 1.0 up to a 1.4 because of their speeding offences etc thats all they can afford to insure.
yes older people (midlife crisis guys with their porkers, evos, elise's and caterhams) though these tend to be a little more sensible about it.
but then again I know people who rag the hell out of a 7800cc vehicle (mind you we all do, you have to to move the bloody things, once moving there fun and powerslides can occour!).

then there are sensible drivers, who get the piss taken out of them by the people who rag their cars.

i dont konow what i am trying to say, i have lost the plot, but at the end of the day it exists lol

Its usually the young guys with big insurance premiums and small engines with bolt on backboxes etc who really want the fast versions of whatever they have got ( they want vxr, st, cupra etc) but they just cannot afford those sort of models so they get the 1.2, 1.4 models and think that if they rag them around they'll get a similar effect.

By the time they can afford to buy and insure the proper sporting models they've usually grown up a bit and realised driving isn't about redlining it everywhere.

i'll be honest i drove like a twat the first 7months or so, but you soon find that when it costs you £180 for a pair of front tyres every 4months you soon give up that expnsive hobby lol

Strap on?

I think there is a reason ~

Young Driver > Expensive insurance > Small engine > Immature > Rags their car.

Older Driver > Cheaper Insurance > Larger engine > More grown up, less immature in general > Drives more sensibly.
