Just doing some quotes at the minute, i currently have a vtr, but i want to go faster, a vts appeals to me. Trying insurance qoutes and am getting high qoutes for a mk1 vts. At the same time am getting qoutes for a imported nissan 200sx 1.8 turbo and its £300 cheaper to insure that. I dont know what insurance group the s13 is but am guessing higher, plus its a faster car.
I would go for the jap, but at the min am after lower running/repair costs.

yes, ive checked all my details and their correct.

Does a vts have such a bad reputation that its become such high risk?

That is expensive, you have to remember a VTS is what most young people want, how many NCB you got.

Havnt got any, due to being a named driver since 17. The vts insurance is a rip off but the insurance for the nissan seems pretty good.

May be better off buying the nissan imo.

yes the vts has a bad reputation

hence more VTR on the road than VTS i think because VTS are being smashed up all the time esp when they came out new with naff brakes

aye, looks the way forward with the nissan . I like my car and a vts would be a nice step up. But am not willing to pay that much for a saxo.

I wouldn't say that.. VTR is just more popular because they are alot cheaper to buy/run and insure Then a VTS.

You've gotta remember VTS are group 14 on insurance compared to group 7 for VTR's and when people get to 21+ when you can afford insurance on a VTS most people look elsewhere for a car.

Its not your age goes off how attractive they are to theives, so number stolen per year, and how well they hold out in a smash, aswel as the performance. A VTS is attractive to theifs and crumbles if you hit anything over 30 lol, hence the reason for high insurance, if you area has a bad rep, and you choose a car thats popular to be stolen then its most likely going to be high.

Saxo - Bad rep, lots of accidents (See various "I crashed last night" threads on sax-p for just a quick example)

NCAP Safety rating - 2 ... crash and it's a write off (almost certainly) .. more money the company has to shell out

Insurance group 14 - Speed ... 0-60mph in 7.whatever in a 2 star ncap car is pretty rapid, not to mention dangerous ... also desirable amongst the chavs around the area (Theft) and a great number are also modded as they are popular amongst younger drivers, again increasing desirability (That even a word? lol) which of course, leads to theft.

So all in all, yes, high risk :wall:
