just got back in and thought i would have a rant about what just happened cos im well pissed off!
i met this girl im seeing at this pub and she had her car there, and i picked her up to come back to mine for a bit. that was all good and then few hours later driving back up to the pub she says o you can turn right there its much quicker. so i turn right up this shitty little lane, out of nowhere there is this massive pot hole. try and swerve but as it was so big the front passenger wheel just crunched right in it!
i new i had a flat straight away, but i have just had it lowered and thought it had fucked the suspension, and also just put refurbed vtr wheels on and thought it had buckled it or something. so got out and everything looked fine apart from the puncture. so jacked it up, took the wheel off, put the steelie on and then realise the fucking bolts wont go in far enough and the wheel was just loose. so were in the middle of nowhere and ended up driving on the flat all the way back to this pub, constantly thinking my wheel was getting more and more fucked but i had to keep on going!
then she had to drive me back to mine to get the steelie bolts, went back up to the pub, jacked it up and the jack collapsed while it was up nearly crushing my hand! then took about half hour getting this jack off this bloke who luckily lived just up the road. in the end put the steelie on and manged to thread one the bolt holes so i only put 2 bolts on but was enough to get me home!
then had a well deserved pint!
im just glad my wheel isnt fucked and all ive got to get is a new tyre.
is there anyway i can some sort of compensation for the shit state of the road? as there is potholes all the way down it.
rant over! sorry for the essay just really pissed me off!

Yeah you will need picture of the pot hole and possibly a ruler inside the hole whilst taking the picture to show the depth of it.
It is suppose to be a right nightmare trying to claim, most council's will not even pay out. :panic:

Unlucky bud, were you using the standard citroen jack per chance? I remember one failing on someone last year on holiday in his 106. :panic: Made a nice bang as it fell to the floor.
Potholes are a nightmare now due to the snow.. got 7 big ones just before you enter my street, tempted to fill them in tbh.

yeah standard citroen one. it was lucky i wasnt using it to have a look under the car or something. never had it happen to me before it was scary as fuck!
thats probs not a bad idea filling them in yourself if its on your street and you have to use the road, as the council will never get of their arse to do it tbh!

what would you advise as doing it properly? taking pictures with ruler included of the pothole, and state of the tyre etc..? and just write a letter?

with mine, it wrote off my car. So i had police report etc etc, but i know of people that have knackered their suspension and all they did was take pictures, and keep all receipts and invoices. Call up your local council as everyone is different, but be persistent. its easier than you would have thought tbh.

if there was a white box aroound the pothole you cant claim, also the council can have up to 6 months of saying they are going to fix it, for example they say they will fix it in january, they then have until july before anyone can claim mate

I'm not sure but that looks like it could be a private road.. or is it just a country road? Just be sure it's not a private road before you contact the council otherwise they'll tell you where to stick it bud..
It's pretty big and you can see where other cars have tried avoiding it too. Definetly try and claim

you can get compo for damage to your car as my girlfriends brother cracked his rs4 alloy and had to get it fixed which cost him £50 but then get £190 compo - good times :afro:
