You should buy a corsa b and drop a c20let in it.

They are loads of guide's on the internet. That would be super quick.

Sleeper ftw/

Sparkying is harder than spanner work, so if you can do that, and know "lefty-loosy-righty-tighty", then the worlds your oyster.

tbf mate, the saxo would be a great car to start on imo, do a VTS conversion i reckon.

or has olly said the corsa, but the 2l redtop is quite tricky (for a beginner) as there lots of cutting of looms and shit, so i was told anyway...

Or buy a VTS to start with?
he is a sparky so looms should hold no fear

I say go for it. Just dont buy a part done project as there could be all sorts of botches

yeah with enough time, space, patience and the right tools anything is possible

really fancy doing the same myself. vts conversion is a good one which i'll be tackling at some point. relatively simple and been done plenty of times but still plenty to be learned from it

then get myself an old fiesta/escort project and put some blood sweat and tears into that. start with something easy ish and build up a proper cvh turbo then can always go zetec later on

plenty of manuals and internet guides out there. plus my mate's a mechanic/auto electrician so is there to help out if things get really tough! will be doing everything possible myself though

this looks a good guide and we all know how useful haynes are

I wouldnt bother with guides or kit cars as its all been done befour. i say find a car of your choice, re-enforce it, and start with the big brakes and the bigest/best engine you can get, strip that down and rebuild it. the turbos you may have to get done unless you get an engine with a turbo allready, porche 911 turbo? would be nice. then drop that in, add some nitros, a straight through exhaust, on a car that handles pretty well, ford focus? peugeot 306, even an old..ish lotus elise......that would fly. good luck anyway.

Sleepers are becoming more common, get a shit heap (Rat look) and shove a decent engine into it and maybe turbo etc. upgrade brake disks etc. hind them with some steelies :D job done

if you're a bit handy, and can get some friends to help at times, it should be no problem.
but you do know it's gonna cost you a lot more than you would expect right.
there's always some surprises when rebuilding a car from scratch.

Kerryc, once you have 50 posts you'll be able to edit your previous posts :y:

Steve1255, i'd start off with something small and easy. A saxo would be a great place to start. If you ever get stuck i'm sure if you asked for help on here someone would be able to point you in the right direction.

true, you could always get a car that has a forum like pug306.net 106owners.co.uk saxperience.co.uk that way if you get stuck ull have the answers. if i was going to do this with a car id go with a 306.
