car putting out alot of smoke

car seems to be putting out quite alot of smoke. More then usual anyway. the smoke also smells heavily of petrol. Any ideas? Please don't say the engine is fucked :wall:

depends what colour the smoke is white,blue,black either one of those colours usually means a problem...unless its a dirty diesal....

if its miss firing and its white smoke. could be headgasket and running on 3 cylinders..talking from personal exp. lol..

smoke is white but does seem to clear when driven for about 5mins. car pauses and stutters between gear changes for the first 30seconds of driving. normal or bad? i do have de-cat and 4-2-1 mani

Could be headgasket mate, check for mayo sludge under the Oil Cap when the car has cooled down

sounds like head gasket but if u want 2 make sure take it down ur local garage n they can do a test!
Or even take the spark plugs out and check on the white ceramic that it has not discoloured or got a faint colour of ur coolant on it, as that could tell u if theres coolant getting into the bore and contaminating them. most likly 2 only be on one of them tho.

mines doing it but my exhausts fucked lol no sign of mayo need a good service and new exhaust stinks really heavily exhuast fumes lol
