Funny you should say that, me and my supervisor were talking about it today, but the more money in circulation the less the pound is worth, like in zimbawae (sp) a 2 Billion dollar note is worth nothing.

Mate, dont get me started on Thatcher, i seriously get so fucking wound up with that fucking woman, she really has ruined this country.

The world will be like one big country one day anyway, uk n majority of europe being white color workers, russia for the gas, random countrys for fuel.

New zealand and other countries for meat, other countries for other food etc. We wont be able to live independantly as a country, relieing on other countries to get by.

Callaghan and Labour fucked it up. Thatcher was doing what needed to be done at the time. Funnily enough we were fine before 1997 and then a certain chancellor messed everything up. One major thing (Which I bet he is seriously regretting now) that he did, was sell all our gold reserves at the lowest price on the market. What's happening now? Gold is now at the height off the market.. Brown is just an awful chancellor, but he got the acclaim as the best chancellor because he was hiding what was to come.

the debt we have gone into might of saved us from total ruin but we wont know till we get out the other side of the recession?

smiith
19th February 2009, 19:47
I see the recession lasting a good 5 years, for all the rich business men, it will be a god send, think of all the cheap property they will be able to buy, with money they just have sat in the bank, then be able to pay top rate tradesmen half the price, and they will do the work cheap because of their lack of work..

Its going to get alottttt worse before it gets better tbh

exactly, they can afford to just keep the property untill the other side of the recession, and then sell for probably double what they have paid out on the property

I just love the way you missed out the fact that the last time the Conservatives were in power there was a huge recession (during the early 1990's). During this David Cameron was the ecomnomic adviser to the then Chancellor Norman Lamont. This is the same David Cameron who wants to be our next Prime Minister!!!!

It wasn't as big as a recession as last time. And also its inevitable we are going to be hit by these, 60 years between one recession and another. Then Labour come into power and then 18 years after that another recession. Something doesn't add up there.

This was the reason the labour government split and had to form a National Government, mainly dominated by Conservatives to get out of it. Probably be the same again.

And everyone who complains about Thatcher, think off a country today dominated by Trade Unions, workers hardly working, we would be in such a terrible state then. If she's so bad, why are they planning her state funeral?

We wont be able to live independantly as a country, relieing on other countries to get by.

we cant live independantly now let alone in the future, since all this privatisation and money making more and more stuff is imported and less and less exported which can only mean out goings go up and income goes down..... this is where places liek russia have power over us and much of the world we have teh oil avaliable but we dont drill it our selves it was cheaper to buy from them so they did and now we depend on them... we are fucked if they cut teh supplys

YOU ARE ALL FORGETTING ONE THING!

Gordon brown, tony blair, Bush Obhama, they are all faces. They do not deal with the countrys major money issues.
You think the british governent behing the scenes are going to let some berk that has beeen voted to become 'prime minister' make all the shots now??

There is alot that goes on behind the closed doors, with major issues such as War and major money issues. Gordon brown is being told what to do, he has no say, there are people above Gordon telling him exactly wwhat to do.

He is a fce, every prime minister is a face of England, he will have a alot of roles, but nothing like this. Its the British secrent governement that sit round a a big table that have done this i believe.

BUT still, gordon brown is a one eyed scottish idiot :) lol

This country has a major problem. And thats that people just dont stand up!

Look at france for example if something honestly pisses them off they wont stand for it, they wil stand together to make sure they are all treated fair, so they have a protest, and usual ends in a riot, but thats the way things are done!

Us brits sit at home wearing 3 layers with NO heating on, Lights on in one room, and saying
'it'll be ok a in a few years time, just let it pick up...i havnt got a job, but neither has my neighbour, but what can we do....'

WE need to stand up some more to be honest. The governemt treat us like shit. you wouldnt see that in other countrys. Governement tell us whats happening and we roll over and say ok?

Two fucking fingers to the government and everyone in it tbh

I cant believe people are honestly quoting the recession over in 1 to 2 years. Read articles on finance that were not made up by our own government.

There are monetary bodies who do this for a living (and arent paid to be biased) the most conservative ones say we will be through it in 7 years if all goes well, though others think it wont go well and its more like 30 years!.

Unfortunately the monetary system on a whole only truly works if people borrow money, therefore in order for it to succeed there has to be debt! No matter who is in charge of what countries at what times there will always be recessions, Admittedly a lot of the problems that have been created now are due to lending to people who are far from able to pay it back but te banks have to lend to more people all the time to operate! It's a vicious circle that will never end unless the monetary system is removed altogether, but that is not likely to happen for a very long time in my opinion!

Pieface
20th February 2009, 13:30
We've been in debt for decades. It all started when WW2 did when we became majorly in debt thanks to the lend-lease off America. Thats why we've always followed them after the war, we needed the money off them.
