I have just fitted an electric cut off switch to my vtr on the earth side.

Since i have fitted it i cant get it started! the engine is cranking over fine, but not firing.

On the live side, i removed an old bit of wire from the top that looked like it was cut off a while back (could this be to an immobiliser?? - i cant see any loose wires)

Could the ecu or key have been decoded if i connected the battery with the key in the lock?

Cheers

I may be wrong but it sounds like the switch is wrong, if its connected on the earth side the switch may be open, therefore you wouldnt have an earth path. i dont know if you could bypass the switch by joining the 2 wires(im assuming its 2) together and c if it starts.

The switch is fine, as when the switch is off there is no power to anything and it wont even crank over (no dash lights or anything)

Unless my lack of knowledge on electrics shows me up? I would assume that if there is power going to the starter motor, there should be power going to all of the relevent areas?
