Just looking at renewal prices for insurance, i am putting jojobunbun down as a named driver as she reduces my premiums and can always drive me around if i get pissed etc...
I had a look at some other cars and i am shocked to see that i can insure a toyota starlet glanza v for the same price as my vtr which is £1000
what do i do?
sell the vtr and get a glanza? or stay as i am?
comments please!!!
japman your input would be useful mate

very fast little cars, and i love the sound of a dump valve .... lol
if its the same price, then seriously get it.
your young, if you dont like it, then sell up and change. no point keeping the same car if you can upgrade for same money?

Those cars are like dressing your grandad up in a shell suit tbh. Its an old persons car that has been modified to suit a younger person -but it just doesn't suit them. I dont like them. I'd go for a beemer or something like that. less likely to break too

Test drive one,
See how you like it.
People could say it is awesome, but when it comes time for you to drive it, you may hate it.
Personal preference imo.
Also, think of running costs etc,
The insurance may be as cheap, but services, MOT's, petrol etc may cost more.

get one. as far as I know u can put them up to 200bhp without giving too much bother compared to other small engined turbo's. you can get them fresh off the boat with low miles for around 3K and have them registered as a non turbo on the V5.

starlet turbo's can be got at the dock for 2.5k with 50k and glanza's with 70k for 3. it'l take a little more to get them uk spec but for that money who could grumble?!?!

Go for the Glanza mate, its got to be done just imagine the dump valve sound when u shift a gear through your local high street... Im getting one as a few of my mates have them and they are lushhhhh, easy to mod and make a lot faster without spending to much. Glanza all day longggg

get a glanza, one of best decisions i ever made was buying my starlet ive had no problems at all. As long as you modify them properly and dont just go waking the boost up without the supporting fuel mods it will be fine.
Mine is more economical the my vtr was when i drive sensibly but it drinks fuel when driving hard.
If your going to get one get one now there going dirt cheap at the mo bought mine for £1700 @ 50k miles and it has loads of mods. spend a few hundred quid on mods and you will be beating vxr's. you should beable to get a decent glanza for about £2800 if you look in the right places

Get a Glanza mate, they are gorgeous cars, and excellent to drive! i love mine!
The only problem with them tho is parts are expensive, and 2nd hand bits are hard to come across. Everyone wants the same parts, lol.
Then again, i wanna get a VTS now as a 2nd car, cheap bits, easy to mod, and fun aswel :D

if your going to buy one, then buy from an import dealer
my mate has one and is on the starletUK club, says how many people buy second hand in the UK and get a shed.

Its import dealers you want to be weary of for false advertisment wrc sales for example a lot of people have bought cars from them then when they go to pick the car up after its been imported the car hasn't got half the parts that was listed. And they are driven in japan so there is bound to be some that get ragged over there

Orrrr If you after a Turbo....Punto GT??
I've got one, and regardless of what people say, there not that bad for reliability.
130bhp 150lbs torque as standard.
£500 will take you upto a safe 170bhp.
But, they do need looking after quite well, just like any turbo car.

fail luke sorry mate but people can afford a vtr and the first thing most do is rag it too death then wonder why the diff or gearbox is fooked .
Glanzas are good cars as long as the boost is not messed with too much and the person who is selling it has looked after it ,
if u can afford to swap to a glanza do it as for people saying there for chavs ,people think saxo think chav and a big boom box :P
