Hiya.
My auntie currently owns a 1996 Rover Metro, but is forced to take it to the scrapyard as it needs a new headgasket.
She has offered me the car for free, and its MOT doesnt run out untill July, but im not sure if its worth the hastle tbh.
Is there much interest on the market for metro spares? Or if possible how much am i looking at a new headgasket for it fitted?
Cheers

head gasket could be done for a couple of hundred maybe? im sure theres plenty of garages around that have had more than enough practice changing rover head gaskets lol!

Haha too true.
I'm thinking of getting the headgasket repaired, and using the metro for commuting to work etc, whilst the saxo is off road getting some extra attention.

will be too much effort and cost to repair compared to just buying a metro without a HG failure tbh mate.

You know the prices around Weston, how much roughly am i looking at the job to be done at a normal garage?
I know a bloke who owns a garage who'd probably do it for less than half the price.

50 quid for the HG and all the strecth bolts etc, 20-40 for the skimming of the head, then labour which is probably around three hours mate. Normaly rate in westons about 50 quid plus.
Edit, forgot cambelt kit lol, probably 50 quid on a metro but they need timing etc which will add more time to the job

worth doing it mate, i gave 50 pound for a metro about 5 years ago and still got its doing great, there about 4-500 pound still for a road worthy one lol

Well....
I just picked up the car lol, temperature shot upto half way within 2 minutes of driving. I also noticed the brakes are f*cked aswell.
Could be a good little project this, i'll post some pics up tomorrow.
