i parked up tonight and evrything was running smoothly, i restarted the car bout 10 minutes later, pressed the clutch down and all of a sudden there was a rythmic tapping/banging noise coming from the engine bay, realeased the clutch and it stopped but it happens wen eva the clutch is depressed now...

i was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and how they over came it?

do i need a new clutch or has sumthing just come loose or what?

many thanks

sounds like the release bearing to me, but the clutch could of caused the problem so you might be lloking at a clutch.

9 times out of 10 this will be a release bearing, its common on saxo's, what mielage has your car done?
For some reason if the car has had a half decent life the clutch will out live the release bearing, but for the cost of labour etc might be worth fitting a complete clutch kit, some garages will repair for around the £200 mark

Yeah dont be fooled by looking into performance clutches as the vtr and vts already have high performance clutchesso standard is more than good enough, unless your running 200 bhp lol

just go for a standard clutch kit then mate, would be worth while when the gearbox is out to throw 1 at it, will be a fair bit cheaper than £200 then if its not a VTR/S

I paid £180 on a 99 VTR complete clutch and release bearing

sounds expensive to me, 170-190 supply and fit is more the normal.

maybe garages are cheaper here though, i duno :p
