boxers are rather intellegent. but they do need a lot of work, so do rottwielers (cant spell.

but you dont want a big dog if yor are in a flat and at work all day though.

saxx
25th October 2005, 14:38
why are u going to ruin a nice dog???

boxers arnt intelligent.........it takes a lot of patience to get them to do anythin!!!

try finding out about boxer lessons....ours went to a few before he was banned lol

but a pup and workin all day isnt a good idea adam - boxers can tend to chew if they get bored!

AdamW
25th October 2005, 14:41
I have a garage.....My neighbours dog is tied up with his garage door open allday....I live in quite a safe area....He can just bark at the neighbours dog all day smileys/smiley4.gif

saxx
25th October 2005, 14:43
ummm boxers get nicked

u cant do that to a dog all day its just not on!

AdamW
25th October 2005, 14:47
Why not???

He will be walked in the morning and at night..My mate finishes work at 3 and then he will be let in the house....and will sleep in the house over night....Plus I go home for my lunch

Sax1lora
25th October 2005, 14:48
my bf had a puppy boxer and he was really smart. but they do get nicked, my uncles guard dog , a puppy doberman, was chained up inside his yard and it was nicked. they are expsensive breeds so ppl will want them.

they're like children who need to b spoilt!

AdamW
25th October 2005, 14:52
So your telling me most people have boxers dogs give up there job when they get there dog....go on the dole and spend there money on squeaky toys and sit at home allday say

"Your a good boy OH Yes you are"

saxx
25th October 2005, 14:54
no but they dont tie them up in garages outside all day!!

if thats your attitude towards pets then u dont deserve one!

you'll have to pay out extreme money to buy one cos a rescue centre wouldnt give u one

AdamW
25th October 2005, 15:01
Attitude?????

So where is your dog now??

saxx
25th October 2005, 15:02
dogs at home with my dad. hes only ever alone for about 2 hours max

plus hes been for and hour and a half walk this mornin so he tends to sleep until about 4 anyway!

AdamW
25th October 2005, 15:04
there we go then I will take him for an hour walk and he will sleep allday till my mate gets home at 3

saxx
25th October 2005, 15:06
yea but ours has the run of the house!!

hes also 8/9 yrs old now!! not a puppy!

Sax1lora
25th October 2005, 15:07
nothing wrong with putting him outside.

thats like saying you dont agree with guard dogs being kept in a yard.

he will still hav shelter, food, water and toys. plus if he is a puppy he wont know any better. so whats the deal?

saxx
25th October 2005, 15:08
you cant treat dogs who arent breed to be left outside like that!!

would u lock your yorkie outside?

AdamW
25th October 2005, 15:10
Well he is a puppy...he will have to learn won't he....

It would be a different story if he was permanantly outside and never got to come inside

Sax1lora
25th October 2005, 15:11
why not?

all dogs came from the wild anyway. so how were they not bred to be outside? its like saying you put a fish in a tank but not in a pond!

hmm i remember the days when i had a boxer dog called Bruno and he was in the caravn and he ate all the furnature, then at home he ate the kitchen door. And slobberd everywhere. He was so silly he was afraid of my cat lol
we had to sell him because he needed a bit too much attention and long walks etc so he eneded up going on a farm

saxx
25th October 2005, 15:12
ok well lets see u tell a rescue centre how you'll be treatin the dog.

You wouldnt even get a house visit

Sax1lora
25th October 2005, 15:13
every dog has a different personality just like people.

soem are good and some are bad, it depends on the enviroment they live in and the way they are brought up.

AdamW
25th October 2005, 15:16
As I have a mate who has a staffy which he has since a pup...which is outside 8 till 4 he is a perfectly sound dog...comes down the local everynight with him

Anyway....Who said I will get it from a rescue centre!!

My mate knows a breeder as I have just been on the phone to him...

Will send you pics of him day by day if you want and get him to write you letters and sign with his pawprint

Sax1lora
25th October 2005, 15:16
so in the rescue centres they dont keep the dogs in kennels all day and only get let out now and again?

dogs need freedom and shouldnt be couped up all day.

saxx
25th October 2005, 15:17
kennels

mainly indoor

outdoor for recreational purposes!

I'd say get a staffie, ive heard alot of bad things about boxers & its put me off them for life, we got our staffie when it was about 6 months old, we've had it over a year now, it was fully house trained & leed trained, it lived outside in a kennel with 2 other staffies, when we all go to work we leave the radio on & she has a bed in the outhouse, she has the run of the whole house appart from the lounge, she's never ever had a chew at any furniture at all, what ever you decide DO NOT get a dog from a rescue centre, they tend to turn out vicous even though you wouldnt think so, she doesnt pee or shit in the house, if she needs to toilet when were all at work then she waits till we get home, also when were in & she wants the toilet she will look at us & then walk to the back door & wait till someone lets her out, such a lovely dog, we now like staffies that much that we are thinking of getting a second one in the middle of next year

Sax1lora
25th October 2005, 19:31
thats a great dog then. yeah the problem with getting one from a centre is you dont know its past or personality.

my firends staffie is a big poof and wouldnt hurt a fly shes called tilly. they are not bad tempered dogs at all, my Jack Russel is a vicious fooker.

Tony_Jay86
25th October 2005, 19:36
My dog is scared shitless of other dogs, she crouches down & her tail goes in between her legs when another dog is near by, although she likes my brothers cavalier king charles dog, she bullies her like mad, she goes for cats when she see's them but if theres a car right infront of her she will shit it, staffies are a soft dog, there are only vicous if you train them upto fight which is just cruilty, they have a good strong grip to them aswell
