good luck on steelies, a mate took the vtr's off his 1.4 and swapped back to his steelies, kept ending up sideways going round roundabouts, due to lack of grip, because of the smaller contact area, then wrote the car off a week later when he had to swerve to avoid an oncoming car and lost control, ending up in a ditch, again related to lack of surface area of the tyre on the road.

yeh go for banded ones, they would look good and stick you to the road much better, get them sprayed up nicely, and they'll look great

it pretty cheap to get them banded innit, just the rubber to pay for

if your getting steelies get a set of s2 rallye steelies, they look alot better and are same size as vtr wheels, dont get s1 as they arent as widei think they are 6 inch and s2's are 6.5inch and you have to have slimmer tyres on the s2's i think, correct me if im wrong, but with the s2's you will get away with 195's just be careful which depth you go for as it will start messing with the speedo lol i think you lowest you can go is 195/50, but if you get 185s you have to have 185/55

i have these wheels on my car if you look in my user pic, its not the best but i havnt got any others on here yet, i could get some up though if you wanna see?

how much width do we rekon i would need to add to get a decent amount of grip without going stupid lol?

think im just gonna knock it on the head and have my alloys refurbed instead, seems like alot of hassle.

banding cost in the region of £357 for extra 2 inch dish £10 to smooth the bead painting is extra then rubber so all in in all not that cheap plus you gotta buy the steels in the first place.
