Yates
29th October 2005, 19:00
cos i think some early mk 2 vts's were 128 or sumthin? im sure damo will sort this one out, is yours a mk2 roberto?

there was never a proven 130 bhp vts model. never.
there was also a very specific engine it was reported to be, normally around X regish, engine had the mounting prongs for the EGR valve but had no EGR valve.

It wont be 130 bhp mate, im sure that nova would have beaten you if running right. smileys/smiley2.gif

the corsa cant of been running right a 2ltr redtop engine is putting about between 150-160bhp std so drop that in a nova n in a straight line it would destroy you on a twisty road you could keep up with it n if the vts was tuned you'd possibly beat it
it must of been running like a proper bag of shit or the lad cant drive

iv raced my mate in his 2.0 redtop corsa and i beat him in a strainght line but my vts has full de-cat, bmc and re-mapped ecu but i wouldnt have been far off as standard, sounds like the one you raced may have been a 2.0 8 valve. but well done anyway
Yates
30th October 2005, 20:34
my mates raced a 2ltr red top in his vts, he has everythin done to it apart from turbo/supercharge, and stil the corsa beat him, he was able to keep up
shaddow ur mates corsa must be fucked then
shaddow
30th October 2005, 20:41
the corsa must have had about 200bhp then!
admidedly my friends corsa is a standard 2.0 with a exhaust but it runs fine. think the main advantage is the weight of a saxo. or like you said the corsa may not have been running right. they are old engines after all.
Yates
30th October 2005, 20:44
a corsa with a 2ltr engine is not standard!!!!!!
i think that the cav 2ltr red top is about 150bhp so even a saxo with all them mods mite not touch 150 and with the speed of them both i would stil favour the corsa
shaddow
30th October 2005, 20:50
can see where your coming from but its always a tough one, cos some of the 2.0's will be nacked where as other will be running close to 180bhp easily so when you race one you never now.

yeah they are 150 or 156 std
shaddow the weight of a saxo?a corsa isnt that much heavier even with a 2ltr in then theres the extra power n torque of a 2ltr redtop the saxo wouldnt beat it unless the engine is shot to shit n the guy cant drive
shaddow

its prob the latter, he cant drive ha ha

i watched someone race a 1.6 focus and a 1.4 saxo down a straight! the saxo won...alot of it is down to the driver! its ok having the power...but unless you know how to use it theres no point!
its a bit like Formula One....there all running same engines nearly...but how come drivers are miles behind? ....down to the driver
but i don't see the point in racing people...only damaging your car like!

right cav man is here even though i sold it today,
the nova must of defo not been running right or it was not being used to its full protential.
the engine will of been either 150bhp or 156bhp if standard, the diference is that the 150 is from the k-reg cavs or mk3 astra gsi with a cat, the 156 is from early cav gsi's and mk2 astra gte,s.
a mate of mine had a nova with a xe conversion and it pished all over most things including my mates brothers 220 bhp fiesta turbo.
hope that helps a little.
also are you sure it wasnt the 8v engine?

theres a lad floating round my area in a 2.2 twin turbo nova. smileys/smiley5.gif dunno how or who he is but rumours of 300bhp are common.Anyone heard anything like this?

I sort of know the bloke with the nova and it was runnin fine as loads of his m8s asked me what i had done 2 mine he couldnt keep up with my vts and he knows how 2 drive i know they havent proven that the earlier mk2 vts were 130bhp mines is an xreg if u ask damo bout the nova as he knows the people who know him tell him 2 ask hannah from pompey smileys/smiley17.gif

lets face it the xe is one of the best motorsport engines ever built its practically a cosworth engine, it is still widely regarding as the top choice for many conversions and kit car fans love them, sorry but we all no its better then the r and s version of the saxo engine.
